In person at Temple Israel, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

November 1, December 6, January 3, February 7

As profound as Torah study, as funny as Saturday Night Live, “The Jews Are Coming” (HaYehudim Baim) is an Israeli sketch comedy show that explores Jewish history and traditions. When Scripture is Only the Beginning: Four Midrashic Narratives from the Tradition of our Sages, with Dr. Samuel J. Kessler

On Zoom ONLY, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

November 1, December 6, January 3, February 7

Delve into the mind of our sages and the heart of our tradition through the most classic of Jewish literary genres: Midrash. Explore the intimacies, complexities, and fragilities of human life through stories about Creation, Sarah’s voice, fearful rabbis in the wake of the Temple’s destruction, and the Kaddish prayer. Dr. Kessler is the Åke & Kristina Bonnier Endowed Chair in Jewish Studies and Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Gustavus Adolphus College.
