T ufts Health Plan Recognized as one of the 50 Most Community-Minded Companies in the United States

Tufts Health Plan has been named a 2020 honoree of The Civic 50, by Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. The award recognizes superior corporate citizenship programs and showcases how companies use their time, skills and resources to impact their communities.

"This recognition underscores our company commitment and that of our employees to living our values and connecting to the communities where we live and work," said Tom Croswell, Tufts Health Plan president and CEO. "We are honored to receive this distinction just five years after launching our program."

Tufts Health Plan's 2019 Corporate Citizenship Report: Actions Matter showcases our commitment to communities, highlighting the actions that differentiate us from other organizations, including: business practices that advance diversity, equity and inclusion; championing sustainability initiatives; products and services that promote health equity; and the company's community engagement program.

Foundation pledges $200,000 to support social justice organizations

The Foundation has committed $200,000 to organizations working to advance social justice and racial equity.

"Action is necessary for us to realize deep and permanent change," said Nora Moreno Cargie, president of Tufts Health Plan Foundation and vice president for corporate citizenship at Tufts Health Plan. "We must act on the momentum that comes from great sacrifices of lives cut short unjustly. We must put our resources to work."
MCOA's David Stevens receives national recognition

The National Council on Aging honored David Stevens, the executive director of the Massachusetts Association of Councils on Aging, with a Trailblazer Award at this week's conference. Stevens was lauded for keeping aging issues at the forefront and working toward a just and caring society that allows all of us to age with dignity, purpose and security.
Foundation match triples donations to social justice organizations and those affected by coronavirus

The Foundation is offering a two-for-one match to Tufts Health Plan employees and board members who donate to social justice organizations and those affected by the coronavirus. More than $200,000 has been contributed to nonprofits through this program since March.
COVID Funding: $1 million to 49 organizations
The Foundation announced its third wave of funding: $170,000 in grants to 10 nonprofit organizations to bolster collaborative regional responses, particularly in communities reporting the highest rates of COVID-19 infection. In total, 49 organizations on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic were funded by the additional $1 million.
  • Massachusetts: $475,000 to 24 organizations
  • Rhode Island: $185,000 to 7 organizations
  • New Hampshire: $145,000 to 7 organizations
  • Connecticut: $195,000 to 11 organizations
