The Town of Stanley celebrates the grand opening and ribbon-cutting for a new gymnasium at Harper Park, 301 Blacksnake Rd., Stanley, tomorrow at 4 p.m. Drop by for the dedication ceremony and Chamber ribbon-cutting. Named in honor of the recreation director who worked tirelessly to raise funds for the new park and gym, the Tug Deason Gym will see its first action on Jan. 4, 2017, when more than 200 young people begin a new youth recreation season in Stanley. Deason saved the town money by supervising the construction project. The 8,800-square-foot gym was built at a cost of close to $500,000. It replaces the Kiser Center gym, which was built more than 60 years ago. CLICK HERE for more.
