![]() Good morning everyone, Since our email newsletter last week, we have experienced many new challenges with both our lower capacity shows in 2020 and our existing shows in 2021 that are causing all sorts of problems for the artists, patrons, and venue. This resulted in the show cancellations of 5 of our remaining 8 artists in 2020 and all but guaranteed that we will be closed through February of 2021 at least. There are numerous reasons for these recent changes but they all come from the same source: a huge rise in the rate of infection. Because other states are making new regulations, agents grounding all of their tours, band members becoming less comfortable with touring, and changing state regulations that put bands and patrons in a situation when they have to quarantine for two weeks after leaving the state, many of our upcoming Covid capacity shows had to be cancelled. I mentioned in last week’s newsletter that this might happen. I also mentioned that Tupelo Music Hall doesn’t want to be responsible for the spread this infection. The writing is on the wall here, folks, especially with Thanksgiving coming up and the fear that the spread will worsen more after this popular holiday. The fact is, you are about to see the entire music industry shelter in place for an extended period of time. We fought the good fight. ...BUT I don’t want this newsletter to be just an airing of everything going bad in our world today. The election chaos coupled with the very dangerous spread of this virus is, of course, very troubling. Having said that, tomorrow is THANKSGIVING and I want to share with you what I am thankful for because I think it is important to remain hopeful and remember that, even in times like these, there are good things in our lives that we need to remember, even if it takes an effort sometimes to remember what those things are. Here’s my list of what I am thankful for. I hope you can take a minute and take stock of your blessings as well, especially if you are struggling right now. I am thankful for: -MY FAMILY but especially my wife Julie who, despite being married to a very stressed out man, remains gracious, loving, and helpful.-THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE from our patrons, who continually show support and love for us through kind emails, phone calls, and comments on social media. -MY ENTIRE STAFF who has always been there for me when I needed them. -THE STATE OF NH and its pro-active representatives who have been such strong supporters of small business and continue to find ways to help those of us in industries that have been affected so deeply by this pandemic. -MY HEALTH and the health of my friends and family. -THE WEATHER which has been beautiful this entire year. -ENTERPRISE BANK AND OTHERS we work with who have gone above and beyond to keep us in business. -THE TOWN OF DERRY, a key partner in making our outdoor music series work this past summer. -THE AGENTS AND BANDS we work with who are trying to reschedule an entire year’s worth of shows under such difficult circumstances. -THE VACCINE with a 95% success rate, that will eventually help put an end to this madness and help get us back to work. -STRANGERS who have agreed to wear a mask, keep their distance, wash their hands, and consider others as they go about their daily lives. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Stay safe. Be kind. We are all in this together. Scott & his amazing crew UPCOMING INDOOR SHOWS Limited Seating.
