July 16,
  With the Maryland SoccerPlex
A weekly newsletter to keep you informed about EVERYTHING Turf at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
This week we will look at the different layouts that our grounds crew has to paint on the fields throughout the year!
The past two weekends we have had a girl's lacrosse tournament and a boy's lacrosse tournament, some of the biggest tournaments we hold with approximately 1,000 visitors between the two weekends. The field layouts for lacrosse differs based on gender. The weekend of July 7 and 8 the fields were painted for girl's gameplay. This past weekend July 13-15 they were painted for boy's gameplay. See both below!

As many of you soccer parents know, soccer field layouts are our most frequent layouts that must be painted. Soccer field dimensions change based on the age grouping. At the SoccerPlex we have 4 different field dimension variations: 4 v 4, 7 v 7, 9 v 9, and 11 v 11.

The dimensions for the full-sized field at the SoccerPlex, used for 13U and up are 112 yards long by 75 yards wide. All other field configurations used at the SoccerPlex we do our best to keep within the dimensions of an 11 x 11 field in order to help minimize the number of lines on one field.

Our 9 v 9 fields are utilized by our 11U and 12U divisions. A 9 v 9 field fits into half of an 11 v 11 field as shown in the diagram below. These fields are 75 yards long by 47 wide yards.

Our 7 v 7 fields are used by 8U, 9U and 10U. These fields are 47 yards long by 30 yards wide. We can fit 2 of these fields on a full-sized field. As you can see from the diagram we position these fields in the corner of a full-sized field.

And last but certainly not least are our 4 v 4 fields. These fields are used by our youngest groups, 6U and 7U. These fields can fit on 1 half of a full side field and there are in each half. These fields are 30 yards long by 20 yards wide.
