Turkey Trot - Saturday, November 23
Register Now & Save!

Runners and walkers, take your mark! Enjoy a 5K trail course, which winds around the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. The race starts at 4pm. This is a family-friendly race! Long-sleeve Sport Tek T-shirts guaranteed to the first 700 pre-registered runners. We are collecting used running shoes for the Reuse-A-Shoe Recycling Program with Nike. Bring one pair or bring ten! We will be collecting shoes at the HCC until the day of the race. Please donate a nonperishable food item as part of your registration. All food will be donated to LINK. Winter and Fall Programs and Events Guide

Our Winter Programs and Events Guide is available. Each season we put together a variety of classes to allow you and your family to recreate and take time to improve your health. Stay active indoors as the winter brings a deep chill to our area. Winter registration starts at 10am on Wednesday, December 4 for Town of Herndon residents and at 10am on T uesday, December 10 for non-residents. Click here to read our guide .

Jingles In Jammies - Friday, November 29

Relax after all that holiday preparation and kick off the holiday season as a family! Go for a swim in our heated indoor pool then change into your PJs to enjoy a showing of ELF, rated PG. Popcorn & hot cocoa will be served. Bring a blanket for seating. $5 per person or $18 per family, pay at the door on the day of event.
Santa, Stars, & S'mores - Friday, December 6

Santa comes to Runnymede Park from 7-8:30pm! Follow the luminaries to the campfire and Santa. He’ll be here to chat with each child, plus holiday music. Dress for the outdoors. S’more kits available for sale. Free and no registration required. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held Sunday, December 8 at same time. Sorry, no pets at this event.
Holiday Arts and Crafts Show - Sunday, December 8

Shop local and find unique gifts and home items. The HCC will host over 90 arts & crafts vendors selling distinctive handmade gifts, holiday-themed decorations, and fine arts. The event runs 10am-4pm and we offer FREE admission and parking. Gift wrapping available and donations accepted. Dive-In Movie, Nightmare Before Christmas
Friday, December 13

What better way to celebrate Friday the 13th than with a dive-in movie? Join us for the Nightmare Before Christmas on Friday, December 13 at 7pm. Bring your favorite floaties and have fun in the pool. Children 8 & under must be accompanied by an adult. Pizza, candy, soda, and water will be sold. $10/individual or $25/family. HCC Open House - Saturday, January 4

Mark your calendar to kick-off your New Year in a healthy and fun way. Bring your friends and family. Spend the the day or a few hours at the HCC. Find your health and wellness vision for 2020. Enjoy free admission all day. There will be demonstrations, tours, open swim, pirate ship float time, and more from 9am-2pm. More details to come.

Kickstart to Health Series

Sign up now for the last session of this new series, which dives deeper into different topics for better health and well being, held in a small group setting. You will receive relevant handouts, recommendations, recipes, easy action plans to implement, group coaching, and more. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm for ages 16 & up. Individual topics we’ll focus on:

Bird Walk in Runnymede Park

Every second Saturday of the month, the Friends of Runnymede Park conduct bird walks in Runnymede Park. Join them on Saturday, December 14, 8-10am. Meet in the parking lot. Bring binoculars if you have them or borrow one of ours. Free and no registration required.
Registration is Ongoing for 2019-2020 Preschool

Our preschoolers are enjoying school and there is still time to sign up your child. Exciting new changes have been made to the preschool program. Now ages 4 & 5 meet daily Monday through Friday, 9am-12pm, with an emphasis on skills needed to enter kindergarten, plus field trips, outside free play, music, swimming and holiday activities to celebrate diversity in our classroom. Children need to be age 4 before September 30, 2019.

Preschool Prep focuses on ages 3 & 4 and they meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3pm.

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins in February.

Chandon Park Trail Improvements

The project consists of the installation of approximately 1,600 linear feet of eight- foot-wide asphalt trail connecting Herndon Parkway, Worldgate, and the Dulles Glen Apartments. Removal and replacement of the bridge to the dog park with concrete culvert pipe is also being done as part of this project. Access will be maintained to the dog park, tennis courts and ballfield throughout the duration of the project. Funding for these improvements were obtained through grants from Fairfax County as part of the Herndon Metrorail Station Access Management Study. Substantial completion of the project is expected in December 2019.
