Turn, Turn, Turn

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and anger and all slander.

~1 Peter 2:1

We are halfway through our Lenten journey; a good time to take inventory on how we are doing, I personally have several habits that I know are not pleasing to God. I keep on working on them, but I am not holding myself accountable.

This is a daily practice I am going to try for the next three weeks of Lent. Each week I will look at one habit that I should get rid of and hold myself accountable to God for it.

  • Instead of speaking negatively, I will turn to positive speaking.
  • Instead of negative thinking, I will turn to positive thinking.
  • Instead of self-indulgence, I will turn to reaching out to others.

I will spend one week one each of these areas.

I hope, with God’s help, I will accomplish this by writing down each morning my aim for that week, and then take stock in the evening on how well I have (or haven’t done). Taking stock in the evening is important, for it will helps to keep a focous on my aim. It also serves as a mental reminder for the next day.

If we dedicate our days to living as God would have us live, we will be able to walk with Jesus as He goes to His final days. They weren’t easy.

But focus and accountability to ourselves and God will help, and blessing will come from our efforts.
