GlobalMindED is honored to recognize Sergio Fernández de Córdova, Chairman of the PVBLIC Foundation, as the Exceptional Leader Award winner for Media and Arts. As Chairman of PVBLIC, he leads the foundation's engagement with the White House and the United Nations and hosts the Media For Social Impact Summit in partnership with UNOP, where C-Level executives convene to inspire each other on how media can change the world one campaign at a time.
What is your personal story, and how did you find your purpose and your passion?
My purpose took shape through experience rather than ideology. Coming to the United States early in life exposed me to new systems, expectations, and standards of performance. Each phase of my journey reinforced a simple reality: progress is determined by access to structure, not lack of ambition. Over time, my focus shifted from individual achievement to understanding how institutions function, where they fail, and how they can be redesigned to operate at scale. That perspective led me to concentrate on building platforms rather than pursuing roles. PVBLIC emerged from that orientation. My personal path and the institution evolved together, shaped by execution, resilience, and a long-term commitment to building systems that allow people, capital, and ideas to operate effectively across borders and generations.
What led you to the leadership role for which you are being recognized?
This recognition reflects the work of building PVBLIC from first principles and leading it through complexity over time. The vision was established in 2011, before data as an asset class, technology as a scalable vehicle, media as a highway, and modern multilateral execution became common practice. I founded and have led PVBLIC continuously to build an institution capable of operating across sovereign, multilateral, and private sector systems with durability and independence.
Today, PVBLIC operates as an institutional platform structured around four pillars: nature as primary infrastructure, technology as the applied system, capital as productive energy, and multilateralism as the architecture for scale. Through platforms such as the SDG Data Alliance, Nature Bank frameworks, and applied AI and geospatial programs, PVBLIC functions as an execution layer aligning governments, multilateral institutions, and capital to move from strategy to capital formation and long-term outcomes across more than 100 countries.
Leading PVBLIC requires neutrality, discipline, and a long-term view. The institution is built to operate beyond political cycles, market shifts, and individual leadership. This recognition reflects a journey defined by building something durable where none existed and stewarding it with a generational horizon through scale, resistance, and change.
As we celebrate America's 250th, what is your highest hope for our democracy?
My hope is that America fully reclaims its role as the world’s leading engine of innovation and global progress. America has always mattered to the world, not simply because of its ideals, but because of its ability to build, finance, and scale what comes next. Today, with a growing concentration of global family offices, capital, and entrepreneurial leadership rooted in the United States, the opportunity is to refocus national ambition outward.
The next chapter should position America as the platform that helps drive the next generation of economic development through leadership in space, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and modern financing strategies. As we mark 250 years, the moment is not about reflection, but about resolve. America must once again step forward to shape the systems, standards, and economic engines that expand opportunity globally and unlock a new era of shared prosperity.
How can GlobalMindED inform, advance, and multiply your mission?
GlobalMindED is most valuable as a platform for talent, signal, and execution alignment. Its strength lies in convening leaders who are actively building systems, not debating them. That aligns directly with PVBLIC’s role as an execution platform across education, technology, capital, and multilateral infrastructure.
In 2026, PVBLIC is advancing a focused education strategy across small island states and frontier markets, anchored by the Transforming Global Education Summit in May. The objective is to treat education as deployable infrastructure, integrating digital systems, geospatial capacity, AI-enabled learning, and workforce alignment with future economies.
GlobalMindED can help multiply this work by connecting emerging leaders and institutions to these platforms early, strengthening the pipeline between education, economic development, and multilateral implementation.
You can celebrate Sergio Fernández de Córdova and the other Honorees at the ExceptioExceptional Leader Awards Dinner on June 10th in Denver and hear insights from him during the conference that follows. Read our newsletter daily and register for the conference by January 31 for the Early Bird rate!
