Eight McCourters Selected for Presidential Management Fellows Program
The McCourt School of Public Policy is excited to announce that eight students and alumni were selected as Presidential Management Fellows for the Class of 2021. The eight McCourters join a selective and prestigious group of finalists – out of 6,820 applicants only 551 applicants were selected as finalists.
McCourt faculty from across expertise areas and disciplines describe a combination of policy and political failures regarding the coronavirus pandemic that have exposed severe vulnerabilities. The good news: They are also developing innovative recommendations to stabilize the economy, address the spread of COVID and strengthen health care, education and job training.
Earlier this month, students and leaders from Georgetown University spoke with Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights and former president of Chile. In the conversation, High Commissioner Bachelet outlined steps for advancing gender equality and human rights during COVID-19 recovery efforts in Latin America and beyond.
When Kamila Saldanha (MPP ’19) was selected for the Twitter Public Policy Fellowship, she was thrilled but apprehensive. As a Policy Fellow in the DC office, Kamila managed a cross-functional project to help identify 2020 U.S. election candidates on Twitter, a key component of the organization’s broader election and civic integrity efforts.
