As February unfolds in Texas, we're reminded that spring is just around the corner. This past weekend, while working in my yard, I was delighted to see my perennials peeking through the soil—a promising sign of the warmer days ahead. Soon, we'll all enjoy the first blooms of tulips and daffodils, symbols of renewal and growth.
February not only ushers in spring but also marks Heart Month and Valentine's Day—a perfect time to reflect on love and heartfelt connections. What better way to celebrate than by taking a stroll along Turtle Creek? Engaging with nature is not only beneficial for the heart but also soothing for the soul.
At TCA, we've been working diligently to make your walks along the creek both safer and more enjoyable. Our recent efforts to remove trash, clear brush and undergrowth have significantly enhanced both the safety and aesthetic of our beloved greenspace. These improvements enable you to connect with nature without distraction.
We hope you take advantage of the tranquil environment we're nurturing. Whether you're celebrating love, reflecting on personal growth, or simply seeking peace in nature, Turtle Creek offers a perfect backdrop.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Together, we're not only preserving a vital part of our city but also enhancing our community's well-being.
Warm regards,

TCA Welcomes Dr. Stephen Worsham to the Board of Directors
TCA is delighted to welcome Dr. Stephen Worsham to the Board of Directors. Dr. Worsham brings a wealth of experience, a deep connection to the Dallas community, and a strong passion for enhancing the Turtle Creek Corridor.
A Texas native with deep roots in the area, Dr. Worsham grew up in Highland Park, where he lived from 1956 to 1991 before spending the next three decades in California as a practicing urologist. In 2021, he and his family returned to Dallas, choosing Turtle Creek as their home.
Dr. Worsham’s educational journey reflects his dedication to the sciences and medicine. He began his undergraduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before earning both a B.S. and M.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. He then pursued his M.D. at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed two years of general surgery training followed by four years of urological surgery training and board certification in urology thereafter.
Beyond his impressive academic and professional background, Dr. Worsham’s diverse interests bring a fresh perspective and dynamic energy to the TCA Board. He is passionate about photography, cinematography, and music production. Dr. Worsham and his wife, Stacie Marie, are both deeply connected to the arts and share a strong appreciation for the Turtle Creek community.
Most importantly, Dr. Worsham is committed to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Turtle Creek. His dedication to improving the corridor perfectly aligns with the mission of the Turtle Creek Association. We are excited to welcome him and look forward to working together to make a lasting positive impact on our community.
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Stephen Worsham!

Progress in Addressing Homeless Encampments
One year ago, the Turtle Creek Corridor faced a significant challenge; eleven active homeless encampments had taken root along the Turtle Creek Leisure Trail and its surrounding parks. These encampments were largely hidden behind dense brush and undergrowth.
Today, through hard work and strong partnerships with the city, TCA is proud to report a dramatic reduction—the number of active encampments has been decreased to just two. One is located under the Lemmon Ave. bridge and the other under Fairmount St. bridge.
| |
TCA and our Parks and Recreation partners have been given the green light to implement what we believe will be effective solutions for both sites. At the Lemmon Avenue Bridge, we will install vertical metal bars around the flat cement ledge to restrict access. Under the Fairmount Street Bridge, where the surface is smooth dirt, we will place 25 tons of large boulders to create a rough, uneven surface that will discourage future camp setups. Both interventions are scheduled for completion by the end of this month or early March.
Following the installation of these measures, efforts will shift towards removing graffiti and further beautifying these areas.

TCA Welcomes Cinnamon Shore as a
New Corporate Partner
| |
The Turtle Creek Association (TCA) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Cinnamon Shore, a premier luxury resort in Port Aransas, known for its beautiful vacation rentals along the Texas Gulf Coast. This collaboration might come as a surprise to some, given the geographical distance between Dallas and the Gulf Coast, but the reasons behind it are rooted deeply in a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
Cinnamon Shore decided to partner with TCA after learning about the association's extensive efforts to clean up Turtle Creek. The connection between our local efforts and broader environmental impacts is clear: uncollected trash from Turtle Creek eventually flows into the Trinity River, which leads directly to the Gulf. By joining forces with TCA, Cinnamon Shore aims to address environmental issues at the source, thus protecting the pristine nature of the Gulf Coast, a cornerstone of their business.
| |
Jodi Peters, a representative from Cinnamon Shore, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "Supporting TCA's initiative not only helps preserve the natural beauty of our vacation spot but also aligns with our dedication to environmental responsibility," Peters said.
This partnership is not just about cleaning up, it's about creating a sustainable future for both organizations. By reducing the waste that flows into the Gulf, Cinnamon Shore and TCA are working together to enhance the environmental quality of both the Turtle Creek area and the Gulf Coast. Additionally, this collaboration opens up opportunities for Cinnamon Shore to introduce its offerings to new visitors from the Turtle Creek community, truly making it a win-win scenario.
As we move forward with this partnership, both organizations are excited about the potential for positive impact and the lasting benefits for our environments and communities. Stay tuned for more updates on this promising collaboration, as we continue to work together towards a cleaner, more beautiful Texas.

A roaming photo robot was among the many special touches at the Turtle Creek Association’s annual gala, held recently at the Virgin Hotel Dallas. The event kicked off with a VIP champagne reception, sponsored by Michael Simon.
The gala was chaired by Sharon Ballew, who also serves as the nonprofit’s vice president of fundraising. Honorary chairs were Elyce and David Walthall, the gala presenting sponsor was Teresa Byrd, the Tour of Homes presenting sponsor was the urban team at Allie Beth Allman Associates (Kyle Crews and Ani Nosnik); and Deborah Stanford was the Tour of Homes event chair, aided by Karisti Julia and Wayne Smith.
At the event, as association president and CEO JD Trueblood thanked everyone for their support, the room was overtaken by a flash mob of Dallas Mavericks performers followed by sounds from Emerald City’s popular Limelight band.
The Celebrating Turtle Creek gala was supported by diamond sponsor Lyda Hill Philanthropies and ruby sponsors Dick Babb and Phil Neely, JD Trueblood and Franco Dooley, Elyce and David Walthall, Gloria and Jerome Westheimer, and Susan and Bill Montgomery.
