Save-A-Turtle Events: Wyland Mural Restoration

The Save-A-Turtle trailer will be in Marathon, FL with Wyland for his mural restoration on Wednesday, March 2nd. We are so excited to attend this event and the public is welcome.

Interested in being a Beach Walker?

We are looking for volunteers to start walking on April 15th!

Our Save-A-Turtle beach walkers do great things to help our Florida Keys turtles!

Walk your assigned beach, on your assigned day, looking for turtle tracks, stake out nests & help trapped baby turtles get to the ocean (or sometimes to the Turtle Hospital).

Beaches are walked April - October.

Training is provided and mandatory in order to be a beach walker.

NOTE: You need to be in the Florida Keys and available to walk your assigned beach during nesting season (April - October).

Nesting Training

Due to Covid-19 the training workshops will be held virtually this year via Microsoft Teams Meeting Platform.

A link to the webinar will be included in the confirmation email to registered participants.

Training Dates:

Wednesday, March 9th 9:00am - 12:30pm

Saturday, April 9th 9:00am - 12:30pm

When you sign up you must include your permits holder name, If you do not know who your permit holder is fill out this form and someone will reach out to you with who to put down as your permit holder.

Leatherback Nesting Record In Florida!

Leatherback sea turtle nest is the earliest on record for Indian River County...

She laid her eggs early and laid claim to a new record. A female leatherback sea turtle made history Tuesday as the earliest to lay a nest in the 17 years since the Indian River County monitoring program began, according to an announcement by the Coastal Division of the Public Works Department. read more...
