Florida’s sea turtle nesting season gets unofficial early start

As trails of sea turtle tracks begin to crisscross Florida’s beaches — someone ought to tell the turtles that nesting season doesn’t officially begin until March 1st. While sea turtle nesting typically occurs from March to October, a determined sea turtle can choose to make its appearance any time it feels ready — and some are now on the move. Read more HERE

Beach lights can mean 'lights out' for good for some of Florida's most threatened and endangered sea turtles. So, saving them can be as easy as a flick of a switch.

Lights on the beach can confuse nesting females as well as turtle hatchlings and stop them from heading to ocean when they hatch.

It's an all too common occurrence when boats and marine animals meet on the water... boat strikes! Sadly, we receive calls on these occurrences FAR TOO OFTEN.

One way that you can help protect marine life when you’re out enjoying the waterways is to have a designated marine animal spotter on board whenever possible. Somebody that is looking out constantly for the dolphins, manatees and sea turtles that may be found in our waterways.

Additionally, please make sure you’re following slow speed and no wake signs.
