In a gathering that celebrated the power of education and community support, Save A Turtle had the privilege of participating in the College of the Florida Keys Scholarship Social. This event was not just a simple gathering; it was a testament to the transformative impact of scholarships on students' lives.

Multiple students took the stage to share their remarkable stories, revealing how these scholarships had been the driving force behind their personal and academic growth. Their tales painted a vivid picture of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of dreams made possible by the generosity of organizations like Save A Turtle. These scholarships were more than just financial aid. They were the keys to unlocking a brighter future, the catalysts for change, and the foundation upon which dreams were built. Save A Turtle was proud to be a part of this incredible journey.

Save A Turtle remains dedicated to its mission of protecting marine life, but events like the College of the Florida Keys Scholarship Social serve as a reminder that our impact extends beyond that. By supporting education and fostering dreams, we contribute to a world where both sea turtles and humans thrive.

Thank you for being a part of Save A Turtle's journey, and for helping to make events like these possible. Your support truly changes lives.

A Season to Remember: Celebrating the Last Nest of the Year!

As the sun set on another spectacular nesting season in the Florida Keys, we couldn't be more thrilled to excavate the last nest of the season, a remarkable green sea turtle nest! Green nests are far less common in the Keys where loggerhead nests dominate the landscape.

Save A Turtle would like to thank the dedicated volunteers who tirelessly patrolled our shores this season! Our volunteers are the backbone of our conservation efforts and have gone above and beyond to protect these precious creatures and their nests.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we are making a difference, one nest at a time. Here's to an even more extraordinary season next year!

Endangered Sea Turtle Found Stranded in Wales Returned to Texas for Release

“Tally” the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle embarked on an aerial transatlantic journey thanks to international partners, volunteers...

In September, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners released a rehabilitated Kemp’s ridley sea turtle named “Tally” from Galveston into the Gulf of Mexico for a second chance at life. Tally was found stranded and near death on the distant shores of Talacre in Northern Wales in 2021.

PLEASE Slow Down and Look Out!

Large loggerhead female deceased after boat strike. Red arrow indicates start of propeller strike.

It's an all too common occurrence when boats and marine animals meet on the water... boat strikes! Sadly, we receive calls on these occurrences FAR TOO OFTEN.

One way that you can help protect marine life when you’re out enjoying the waterways is to have a designated marine animal spotter on board whenever possible. Somebody that is looking out constantly for the dolphins, manatees and sea turtles that may be found in our waterways.

Additionally, please make sure you’re following slow speed and no wake signs.

If you encounter an injured marine animal while you’re enjoying your boating time or out on the beach in Florida, please call the FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
