DEMONSTRATION AGAINST TWD (In-person/Virtual)

We NEED people to show up and/or write letters (via digital platform) to demonstrate against the Tuscan Water District. This powerful new district will be discussed at the Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting in Oroville at 2:15PM Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 25 County Center Drive.

READ THE ISSUES DOCUMENT HERE AND GLEAN FROM THIS FOR YOUR PUBLIC COMMENTS: TUSCAN WATER DISTRICT ISSUES DOCUMENT

Read Jim Brobeck's (AquAlliance representative and environmentalist) letter HERE on important environmental issues and state efforts to integrate the Tuscan Aquifer into the California Water Project.

Read Jim McCabe's (Durham farmer and attorney) letter HERE on reasons TWD should not be approved.

Read Pete Peterson's (owner of Chico Nut) letter HERE on why TWD is not needed:

Showing up virtually or in-person is much more effective and will demonstrate the growing support to defeat the TWD. This meeting is important and will help decide the fate of Butte County's groundwater and its precious Tuscan Aquifer.

Bring a sign! Wear Blue.

  • Given SGMA, there is a need to manage water at the county level.
  • No existing water district in Butte County currently has this mandate.
  • Water is a public asset and must be governed by the people.
  • Tuscan Water District (TWD) will be controlled by 25 landowners under the direction of the AGUBC, a private, members-only special interest group. The top AGUBC landowners are large corporate enterprises.
  • Alternative providers include the Vina GSAor a County of Butte Water District – all would be accountable to the registered voters of Butte County.

These transparent alternatives should be considered before the TWD application is voted upon.
