Support Tuscany-Canterbury
We are pleased to announce that we exceeded our $10,000 membership dues for FY ’26 by $790. That is a first!!! Thanks to everyone who renewed their dues and to all our new members.
During the period of July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026, we had 26 new households join the TCNA, which is an astounding number compared to the previous fiscal year, during which we got 16 new members.
Thank you all for your support of the TCNA!!
Unfortunately, we don’t always know when new folks move into the neighborhood. To help us reach out to new residents, we’d like to ask you to let us know if you have a new next-door neighbor or if someone has moved in down the street or into your building. Send us an email at presidentTCNA@gmail.com with the address (and name(s) if you have it/them) and we will reach out with a warm welcome!

Fall Safety Suggestions and Tips
| |
Remove anything visible from your car whenever and wherever you park your car.
- Always lock your car and check it to make sure it's locked.
- Install motion lights where the area is dark.
- Report any broken street lights to 311 as soon as possible.
- Keep front lights on your home or building throughout the night.
CALL 911 if you see something happening. Police will respond.
CALL 311 to report the crime if the crime already happened.

Police warn of new threat
Baltimore Police commanders are cautioning residents about keeping their car keys far from their front doors to avoid falling victim to a growing national trend that is now hitting Charm City.
Key fob cloning and other forms of theft using electronic devices are the latest developments in a decades-long technological arms race between car thieves, auto manufacturers, and police.

| | | | TCNA has adopted public spaces and created four neighborhood gardens. With the help of TCNA volunteers and contracted services with Mark Pratt, the gardens will be groomed in the fall. The entrance area of the Stony Run Pedestrian Bridge has been cleared and will be replanted before winter. | | |
Many neighbors walk around our beautiful neighborhood every day. We hope you will enjoy the four gardens which TCNA maintains.

Tree Stewards
Pat Hawthorne, chair
GOAL: To keep Tuscany-Canterbury green and tree-healthy
| | | | Baltimore's goal is to reach a 40% tree canopy by 2037. We’ve already achieved that, as Tuscany-Canterbury is at 40.6%. We can still do better to plant and save more trees. | | | |
We are please to announce that Tuscany-Canterbury will be receiving another new tree this fall in front of 3902 Canterbury Road thanks to the Forestry Division of the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks and T-C neighbor Fred Chalfant. The residents at 3902 have agreed to water and care for the tree during its first two years.
We are looking for opportunities to plant additional trees where previous trees have been cut down or damaged or where there are significant gaps in our tree canopy. Our focus is on the grassy public areas between the sidewalks and curbs. If you know of a candidate spot, send us an e-mail to presidentTCNA@gmail.com. The next chance for new plantings will be early spring.

Updates: Stony Run Walking Path, Tuscany Road, Canterbury & Highfield
The progress on the Linkwood Road path completion has been minimal. Sandy Sparks from the Friends of Stony Run has been coordinating with City DOT and DPW, and RK&K, the planning contractor on the project, to assess Linkwood Road from the stream side to the sidewalk edge, to see where the trail can be placed safely. This will require engineering studies arranged by RK&K.
| | | |
The plan for improvements to Tuscany Road is 90% complete. City DOT needs one last round of review for approval. Once approved, DOT is tracking to have plans completed this Fall. The implementation schedule will vary.
Once plan approval occurs, this project will enter the existing job queue. The projects/ jobs are installed by chronological order. We have also requested a few small changes to road markings and the 'no parking' area on Canterbury and Highfield.

Calvert School Covenant
September 2026
The 2002 TCNA-Calvert School covenant expired in June 2026. The TCNA Covenant Committee worked for the past two years to reach an agreement with Calvert for a new covenant. No agreement was reached. Information was provided to Tuscany-Canterbury in the August TCNA Update from the TCNA Board.
| | |
Calvert School Report
September 2026
The TCNA-approved committee met on August 27, 2026 for the benefit of ongoing communication between Calvert leadership and the neighborhood. Calvert informed us that the school day was lengthened by 10 minutes, making a slight adjustment to the pickup time to 2:55. This was communicated to the parents of the Roland Park Public School, to determine if the bus drop off on Canterbury at Highfield could be impacted. Consensus was that the timing would not be in conflict.
The Calvert student enrollment is unchanged, and more students are in aftercare. A Roland Park parent agreed to notify the committee should any issues arise. So far so good. Calvert also shared notification by BGE of additional tree trimming along the alley of Tuscany Court this fall.
General maintenance and landscaping of the Tuscany and Stoneyford banks were discussed. A follow-up email about the invasive ivy growing extensively up the trees on Stoneyford was sent, after a neighbor expressed concern.
Carpools am and pm are always on the agenda, with neighbors monitoring to report extensive backups. Every employee of Calvert has off-street parking. Please inform the committee with a picture, if possible, if you witness an employee parking on the neighborhood streets.
Our in-person meetings are quarterly. However, we recognize the value of ongoing communications with Calvert School as issues arise, so please send the committee concerns, as we do pass them along.

Calvert Liaison Committee Chair

Water Main Break 100 block of Tuscany Road
During July, the Calvert Lower School experienced a potable water main break in front of its entrance. Potable water flowed down the curb from in front of the campus all the way down to the drain at the corner of Stoneyford and Tuscany.
Neighbors and TCNA reported the break to 311. Unfortunately, DPW took over one month to complete the necessary repairs, including several days when the summer educational programs were canceled. The repaiar was possible because Calvert, Councilwoman Ramos, and TCNA worked in close coordination.

Calvert School is an important part of the Tuscany-Canterbury neighborhood. There is a separate page for updates and information about Calvert School on our website.

The TCNA website has been updated during the past year. There are many new pages and updates to the existing pages. The TCNA website is divided into three sections, About the Neighborhood, News and Projects, and Neighborhood Association. There are two goals of the webside. One is for the thousands of visitors throughout the country and world who view our website yearly see our great neighborhood in words and pictures. The other goal is to provide information that our neighbors find useful and informative.
| | | About the Neighborhood has the following pages. | | |
The History section details the history of each apartment and condo building, in addition to the residential housing areas of the neighborhood. A mini-photo gallery has been added to each. If you have photos or additional information that can be added to your building or area, please send them to us.

STREET LIGHTS
Fall Updates: Lights Out
Ridgemede Elbow
Linkwood at Ridgemede (Park side)
| | |
City Police advises TCNA that lighting at night is the best way to help deter crime. This includes:
- Working street lights
- Lights on your house or building throughout the night
- Motion lights where it is dark at night
This summer there were numerous street light outages. TCNA learned some ways to get the problem fixed more quickly.
You can always call or email 311 to report a light problem. It's the quickest way for you to report the problem, but not always the fastest wayto get it repaired.
CALL BGE DIRECTLY 1-800-685-0123 and do not call 311.

Water Pipes Replacements & Street Repaving
Stoneyford Road, Stony Run Lane, Linkwood Road, 200 block Tuscany Road
| | | |
Almost Done
There are still a few things that need to be done. Some roads need, a few sidewalks need to be repaired. This work should be done by winter.
| | | |
For many years old water pipes burst, flooding roads and garages, and neighbors had no water or low water pressure several times a year. Councilperson Odette Ramos convinced the City to make this a priority because hundreds of miles of water pipes throughout the City need to be replaced.
From November 2025 to March 2026, the hundred-year-old water pipes were replaced. Two months during the summer of 2026 the roads were repaved. Thank you to Department of Public Works and Civic Construction, who provided daily updates to TCNA and neighbors.
| | | |
Clogged Storm Drains
It's time for our annual reminder that we all need to do our part to keep curbs and drains free of debris. Recent heavy rainfall has washed sticks, leaves, soil, and sand from our beautifully landscaped yards and green spaces into the streets. Clogged storm drains can cause water to pond on our streets and flood basements in the houses and buildings at low points.
| | | This storm drain at Canterbury at 39th Street usually needs to be cleared. For most of the other drains in Tuscany-Canterbury, homeowners or building personnel take responsibility to keep them clear. PLEASE HELP!! | | |
Yard Waste Reminders
DO NOT SWEEP LEAVES INTO THE STREET
| | |
From the City Public Works Department, please remember the following:
- Put your yard waste out on your regular Tuesday trash collection day.
- Put it at the same place where you put out your trash.
- Put yard waste in plastic bags (preferably clear or labeled bags), paper bags, or bundle it.
- Limit yard waste to 5 bags per collection.
- Tree branches larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 3 feet will not be collected.
| | |
Alley Next to Tuscany Court: Electric Line
Branches and vines on the electric pole and wires running on the Calvert Woods adjacent to the alley along Tuscany Court were dangerous to neighbors and homes in the event of a strong storm. Numerous calls from neighbors to BGE and requests for help to Calvert school did not solve the problem. TCNA made calls to BGE which finally removed some, but not all, branches and vines from the electric pole and electric line. BGE plans to return, to finish removing the rest of the branches from the electric lines.
| | Before: Years trying to get electric wires cleared. | | BGE at work. Two truck loads of branches were removed. | | After: Pole is clear but more work needs to be done. | |

| | | | Special thanks to everyone in Tuscany-Canterbury who keeps our neighborhood a wonderful treasure and a great place to live and enjoy. Below are a few neighbors who volunteered their time in the past years. | | |
Linda Varsou
A special thanks to Linda and her son, who live in the Colonnade. They spend time each week working to keep Linkwood Park between Ridgemede and Tuscany Road free from fallen branches, as well as removing ivy from trees. The City then removes the branches. This provides a great path through the park, provides places for children and adults to play, picnic, and enjoy. Linda and her son have been doing this for many years. Thank you for making the park a better place for all of us.

Thank YOU!!! TCNA Covenant Committee
The Covenant Committee had representatives from all the associations in Tuscany-Canterbury who had previous covenants with Calvert School. The TCNA representatives are:

- Mike Travieso, Chair (TLCC)
- Luci Davis (Ridgemede/Ridgewood Condo)
- Eric Elton (Cloverhill Road)
- Julia Frazier (Canterbury Road)
- Ferd Latrobe (Canterbury Road)
- Fred Lazarus (Ridgemede Road)
- Arna Margolis (TLCC)
- Amy Mutch (Tuscany Road)
They worked together for two years with Calvert School to try to create a fair covenant for both the neighborhood and Calvert School. The neighborhood association approved various drafts, but the Calvert Board of Trustees would not agree to any covenant.
