North Industry UMC to begin hosting Quilts of Honor America workshops.
Quilts of Honor America (QOH) is a national 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with a mission to help heal the wounds of war. We do this by making and presenting a “Quilted Hug of Gratitude” to American service men and women who suffer from the trauma of war.
QOH will begin having a monthly sew-in and work day on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. We will meet at the North Industry United Methodist Church, 155 Faircrest Street, Canton, Ohio 44706. No quilting experience is required, just a desire to serve America’s active-duty military and veterans. If you are able, bring your sewing machine and a brown bag lunch. This will be primarily an informative meeting including a Power Point presentation about QOH and veteran issues. Each month we will provide you with a suggested quilt pattern and some patriotic quilt material.
More information about QOH can be found on our web site, www.quiltsofhonor.org. We also have a large Facebook following. In the Facebook search tab type in “Quilts of Honor Group.” You can sign up to receive frequent postings of events and presentations happening around the country.
If you would like more information, please contact me at msged@earthlink.net. Please feel free to pass this information along to anyone you think may have an interest in this organization and our mission to veterans.
