2021 Charge Conference General Instructions |
|
Clergy consultations are halfway completed & SPR consultations are beginning soon. Please contact the district office if you have questions.
Reminder - clergy do NOT attend the SPR consultation.
SPR - Please make sure that included with your SPR consultation paperwork is the added "Guide to Setting Pastoral Priorities". If you need a copy of the form you can access it on the district website or here.
If you need training on EZRA, please contact Megan so that she may set up a training schedule for October/November.

The district offices are preparing for consultations & charge conferences for the fall! All forms are ready & accessible here.
The date for Charge Conference has been set for Saturday, October 30. The locations are Minerva UMC at 10:00 a.m. and First (Dover) at 2:30 p.m. If you do not remember which location you chose please email the district office :)
All forms are to be completed in PDF, as there are dropdown boxes for different areas. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat you can download it for free here.
All Charge Conference paperwork is due no later than October 16.

Camp Wanake
75 Years of Ministry Celebration
**POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2022**
|
It is with a heavy heart we wish to inform you that the 75 Years of ministry celebration, on September 24th-26th, 2021, has been POSTPONED.
This decision has not come easy; however, at Wanake safety is first and we feel that is best for all involved due to the surge of the Delta Variant of COVID-19 and the risk it poses to the people attending. We will be postponing it to around the same time in the Fall of 2022. We will be sure to send out those dates as soon as we know. We are disappointed we will not be able to celebrate 75 Years of Ministry this year. We are encouraged to celebrate with lighter hearts next year, and hope that this will give the opportunity for more people to celebrate with us.
We apologize for any inconvenience and we pray that you will join us next year!

Spiritual Formation Trainings |
Trainings Available for Your Local Congregation
The purpose of the East Ohio Conference Spiritual Formation and Christian Education Committee is to support the discipleship ministries of East Ohio congregations in the areas of Christian Education and Spiritual formation for all age groups. We currently have the following topics available for training in your local congregation:
1. Safe Sanctuaries for the Local Church
2. Getting Messy Church Started in Your Setting
3. Offering Worship Engagement Manipulatives in Your Congregation
4. How Can Your Congregation Offer Sensory Sensitive Inclusiveness?
5. Creating a Race and Religion Forum in Your Congregation
6. Offering Outdoor Discipleship as a Way to Reach More People in Your Community
7. Hitting the Milestones with Children and Youth in Your Congregation
8. What Every Child and What Every Youth Should Experience
9. Training Effective Teachers
10. Developing a Discipleship Pathway for Your Congregation
A few other topics are in the works and will be available in the future:
1. Spiritual Formation and Christian Education in the Small Membership Church

Clergy Mission Day | Saturday, October 16 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. |
Open to all clergy, laity serving as a pastor, and retirees. Join your fellow clergy at one of the following UMVIM sites for a day of learning, service, and fellowship! See firsthand what the mission does and learn ways local churches can partner with them. We will be doing hands on mission during this day too! Come ready to learn and work and build relationships with your colleagues with fun and meaningful time together.
- Blue Rose, Mansfield (Mid-Ohio)
- Covered Bridge Mission, Jefferson (Western Reserve)
- Epworth Center, Bethesda (Southern Hills)
- Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland (North Coast)
- Urban Mission, Steubenville (Ohio Valley)
The sites will have the freedom to structure the day, but everyone will do hands on work at the site or in the community, worship, and have lunch. Skilled and unskilled UMVIMers needed.
The event is free, but you do need to register in advance since group size is limited. Contact the district office for the registration link.

Sign-up for a Youth Leader Coaching Call
Attention youth leaders: As you start to plan for fall and into 2022, we are all struggling to understand ministry throughout the pandemic. If you need someone to coach you through these uncertain times, be sure to sign up for a coaching call with Kaye Wolfinger, director of Young People’s Ministries. She can talk you through what is best for your context, listen to your ideas, and share trends that we are seeing in young people’s ministries. She has availability during business hours as well as evenings and Saturdays.
