Greetings!

This week, we celebrate the Archangels (yesterday) and the Guardian Angels (Thursday). I confess I have not always had a great devotion to — or a strong connection with — the angels of our tradition. I often wondered about their influence, and perhaps even questioned their existence. I asked: How can I understand their presence in my life?

Recently, after reflecting on my journey — personal, professional, relational, spiritual — I found myself asking another question. How can I understand my life without their presence? None of it would make any sense. All the “near misses” and “close calls” avoided. All the “pivotal moments” and “lucky breaks” afforded. So little of it was my own doing.

I hope this brief reflection helps you to understand the presence of the angels in your life. I hope, too, that we all can sense the grace of the Archangels and the Guardian Angels at work on our Fenwick Family.

Blessings on your week. See you at Homecoming!

Stride for Freedom 5K

Stride for Freedom is a student-initiated nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for survivors of domestic abuse. Through community outreach, educational initiatives, and an annual 5K, these students aim to inspire action and to generate meaningful funds that directly impact those in need.

This year’s 5K charity run will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 4:30pm at Bishop Fenwick High School. All funds will be donated to Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC), an organization that creates social change by addressing personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression.

HAWC provides critical services to survivors of domestic abuse across 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts’ North Shore, helping them make informed, independent decisions about their futures. Learn more at hawcdv.org.

Our message is simple but powerful: we run for change—standing with Survivors, rebuilding Trust, supporting the journey of Recovery, helping others Identify abuse, encouraging all to Defy violence, and working together to Empower every voice. Join us as we STRIDE for freedom and run for change. Sign up or donate through the link below or at strideforfreedom.org.

Encounter IV

This fall, we have our Encounter IV retreat. The goal of “The Encounter” retreat is to rediscover the reasonableness and the joy of the Encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. Through prayer, witnesses and a shared common life, retreatants will be able to recognize Christ’s presence as relevant to their human experience.  The Encounter retreat is one of the most impactful and popular programs we run through Campus Ministry. To sign up or learn more click this link or email Mr. Carney (rc@fenwick.org)!

Fenwick Connect Speakers

As part of Fenwick Connect, every Fenwick student has the opportunity to deliver a public address to their classmates twice during their four years.

We are grateful to the courageous students who set the tone for this year by being the first to step up to the podium: Breanna Genzale ’26, Charlotte Spooner ’26, Allie Casamassima ’27, Lauren Cinelli ’27, Guilianna Ragosa ’28, Riley Morin ’28, Quin Doherty ’29, and Sariya Kaya ’29.

Their speeches reflected the heart of the Fenwick experience, touching on themes of faith in Jesus, choosing Fenwick, meaningful internships, the inspiration of siblings, lessons in leadership, the rewards of scouting, and the value of stepping outside your comfort zone.

We look forward to hearing many more voices and learning more about our Crusaders throughout the year!

Student Life Updates

  • Congratulations to our newly elected Freshman SAC officers, Lily Guthrie, President, and Emelinda Ryan, Vice President!

  • The theme for this Saturday's home football game is a blackout. Students should wear black to support our Homecoming game and win spirit points for their grade. Students receive double points if they check in at the SAC table before kickoff, and one point if they show up after the game has started.

  • The Homecoming Dance is October 4 in Crusader Square from 7-10. Tickets will be sold at all three lunches next week. Tickets are $20.00 paid by cash or check. Outside guests are welcome with a contract that can be retrieved in advance from Mrs. Timson.

With Gratitude

  • To the parents and guardians who attended last week's Back-To-School Night, joining in the sacred partnership that is Fenwick's Education for Life.

  • Special thanks to Mrs. Driscoll, Ms. Renzulli, and Ms. DiFilippo for their behind-the-scenes preparations and support for the event!

  • To all of the Freshman SAC Candidates for stepping forward to help lead their class.
