BROWNSVILLE ROADSIDE INSPECTION
|
|
You are invited to participate in the Brownsville Roadside Inspection conducted by the Tennessee Trucking Association in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Safety on Wednesday, October 26th, at the Brownsville Scales on Interstate 40, mile marker 50.
Participants will divide into teams and a State Trooper will be assigned to lead each team. Teams work with the troopers as they pull vehicles in for inspections. Level I, II and III inspections will be conducted. It is the best educational experience a company can have regarding how roadside inspections are conducted. You will see what might prompt a vehicle to be pulled in, what determines the level of inspection to be performed, and what is expected when paperwork and equipment is checked. It begins at 8:00 am Central Time and concludes around 2:30 pm or 3:00 pm with a summary of the inspections conducted throughout the day.
You don’t have to be a member to participate. There will be several “visitors” present. If you can possibly get away, please join us for this opportunity to learn about scale inspections. Even if you can’t make it, please try to send someone from your company who works with log records, scale violation paperwork, safety or maintenance. We have had company owners, administrative personnel, dispatch, maintenance, etc., participating in the past. All have gone away with valuable experience.
Lunch will be provided by PFS Transportation, Inc. for all who participate. Please share this invitation with anyone in the industry you feel might be interested in participating.

Trucking Gives Back
After Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc on parts of Florida and the southeast recently, trucking organizations extended a hand to help with the clean-up and recovery efforts.
To help speed up the relief victims in Florida, Gov. Lee signed an executive order waiving certain restrictions in order to provide aid. This order coincided with the Federal Hours of Service waiver.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said, “The impacts of this storm are historic and the damage that was done has been historic. We’ve never seen a flood event like this”.
Lee County, Florida sheriff Carmine Marceno addressed the media, expressing gratitude to those who have offered support in their time of need. “What a blessing is that, for people to come from all over when that bell rings, to come help us in Lee County. I can’t say thank you enough again to the people that have been out there, the public outreach and continuous people that want to help,” Marceno said.
The devastation of such natural disasters wreaks havoc in many ways on how supplies are transported throughout the Southeast. Many of Tennessee’s Carriers, logistics groups, and drivers stepped up to help those hardest hit by the category 4 storm which left over 2.6 million without power. In recognition of your selfless dedication, The Tennessee Trucking Association says ‘THANK YOU’. Time and time again, you have displayed just how willing you are to VOLUNTEER during the moments that count.
Its why truckers are important!!
Marty Pollock, Director of Safety
Tennessee Trucking Association
