Group three will meet at 1:00 o’clock at Cid Breyer’s home 136 Anita Court Redlands for a pot luck luncheon.
Group four will meet after worship on the church patio for food and fellowship.
Group five will meet after worship at Dan and Heather Abushanab’s home for a smoked pork luncheon. 167 Bellevue Ave. across from the church.
Group six will meet 1:00 p.m.at Dianne Landeros’s home 1368 Prospect Dr. Redlands for a pot luck luncheon.
Group seven will meet after church at Ernie and Ruth Jordan’s home 129 San Jacinto St. Redlands, for a pot luck luncheon.

As a faith community who cares deeply about issues of social justice, we often go to the margins of society to make a difference. Perhaps it is time for us to go to the margins to become different. Maybe we need to stop trying to reach the disenfranchise and instead be reached by the disenfranchised. As Father Gregory Boyles suggests, let’s stop “saving the world” and instead “savor the world."

Reflection of the Week from the Racial Justice Team |
Years ago, while I was a law school student in my twenties, the course of my life changed in a single moment—a God-moment. I was reading a legal textbook for a class when I learned about a case involving the largest uranium spill in our country’s history. When I tell this story to an audience, at this point I will ask how many of them have heard of Three Mile Island. Lots of hands will go up. I then ask how many of them have heard of Church Rock. A uranium spill at Church Rock happened three months after the meltdown at Three Mile Island, and even though Church Rock led to far higher radiation levels in the surrounding area, few have heard of it. I had not heard of it until I read about it in my law school textbook, and what blew my mind was that it happened less than 10 miles from where my mother grew up. There in this textbook was the name of my tribe, the Navajo tribe.
I was immediately outraged. How could I come this far in life and not know about this? Instantly, the dots started to connect on why my mother had fought thyroid cancer twice. I was really, really upset. It was in that moment that God spoke to me and said, “You’re needed in this. You need to be a part of fighting against projects like this.” In that moment, I became dedicated to what I now know is environmental justice, what I now know is social justice, what I now know is racial justice.

If you have a "special angel" to share, please bring it to church, labeled inconspicuously and carefully packed. We know they are fragile and may hold great meaning for you. If your angel has a special meaning for your family, please share that story with us. |

RUCC CHURCH NURSERY IS OPEN! |
The nursery will be open every Sunday starting at 9:15 a.m., to accommodate parents and guardians who are taking part in any RUCC before-worship-service activity on our campus. And the nursery will remain open until 12:15 p.m. each Sunday.
KIDS' ZONE - Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
All kids* through 8th Grade are encouraged to join Kids' Zone each Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Kids Zone will be held in the classroom adjacent to Covenant Hall, next to the nursery.
*For infants and toddlers, nursery care is available starting at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday.
NOVEMBER 14 IS BIBLE SUNDAY
We will celebrate Bible Sunday during worship on November 14 by distributing bibles to some of the children of RUCC.
Those entering Kindergarten will receive a copy of the Children of God Storybook Bible by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Those who are entering 3rd Grade will be receiving full-length bibles: the Message version.
In honor of this special day, if you still have the bible which you received as a child, maybe from your childhood congregation or from your parents, please bring it to worship on Sunday! It will be wonderful to see all the bibles which have been spread from loved ones to children through the years.
First Sunday in Advent - November 28
The children of RUCC are invited to participate this Sunday by placing the Christmons on the large tree in the Sanctuary. Chrismons are Christmas decorations with Christian symbols on them. They help us remember that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus's birthday

Book Group Plans for December |
Our next RUCC Book Group meeting will be on Sunday, Dec.5, at 12:00 pm, in (or near) the Founders' Room at the church. We will be discussing the book, While Justice Sleeps, by Stacey Abrams. Diana Sommer will lead the discussion. It’s a mystery book, and a good read. Everyone is welcome!

Wider Ministries is partnering with Women of Faith to assist and welcome newly arrived Afgahn refugee families. On November 21, we will be collecting donations to assist in this effort to welcome the stranger.
