Message from Pastor Tim
Grace and Peace to you Ark and Dove Community,

This Sunday is Stewardship Dedication Sunday, a day for celebrating abundance and generosity, a day for accessing talents and Talents.  A Talent was a first century coin, a large sum of money, a portion of God’s grace. A talent is a capacity and an ability, a portion of God’s grace. In both cases we are invited to invest our (T)(t)alents wisely in the church and the world. See Matthew 25:14-30, this Sunday’s Gospel reading.

Appreciation and gratitude to you the congregation and extended Ark and Dove Community for your faithful support of Ark and Dove in 2020. We have faithfully delivered ministry in a tumultuous period because generosity has been consistent throughout the year. As we approach the Holiday of Thanksgiving, we extend thanksgiving to you for your support of your church and we wish a joyous Thanksgiving especially if you will be gathering virtually with your loved ones.

Now I invite you into prayer. Over the last 8 weeks our church leaders have spoken to you about ministry plans for 2021 in each worship service. Their video presentations, and narratives, are available on our website under the Giving tab, then click on Connections 2021. Everything they said was about connecting inside of Ark and Dove and connecting with the community. Before you pray and or as you pray please review the stewardship materials that have been prepared for you. Our leaders have asked you to pray about raising your giving by 1% of family income. We then ask that you fill out a pledge card and send it to the church. This year you can scan your pledge card or take a picture of your card and send the card to the church via e-mail to  We hope that you will do this by tomorrow, Saturday night, so that on Sunday, Members of the Stewardship Team can lay your pledge card on the communion table for the prayer of dedication.

In deep appreciation for your ministry and support,
Message from Pastor Jon
Dear Members and Friends of Ark and Dove,

I am very grateful for our 2021 Connections Stewardship Team: Doug, Tricia, Joe, Dianne, Bruce, Steve, and Pastor Tim. They have kept us dreaming and moving forward in a time of restriction. As I write this, our County Executive has instructed us to restrict our social gatherings, recreational activities, and restaurant dining. These restrictions, just like the ones ordered months ago, have the effect of limiting our sense of possibility for the future. And yet, even as our possibilities have been somewhat limited, our stewardship team has continued to remind us that we should not limit our sense of what Ark and Dove can do in the next year. They have encouraged us to connect in different ways, to dream of what Ark and Dove can do in 2021, and to trust in God whose generosity exceeds our own. I am very grateful for this encouragement.

As you prepare for this coming Sunday, when we will dedicate your 2021 pledges in worship, I hope that you sense not limitation, but possibility. There are so many ways to connect, even as we limit in-person gatherings. There are so many ways to serve, even as charitable organizations suffer. There is so much to give, even as we consider the economic impact of coronavirus. We worship a God who knows no limit, sets no boundaries, reserves no gift. This Sunday let us praise this God with a pledge that reaches beyond certain limits, that pushes the boundaries of our budget, and that reflects what God has given us.

Verse and Prayer
The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.
-- Corinthians 9:6-8
Household Prayer: Morning  from Feasting on the Word

I give thanks this day for the gift of Christ and the privilege to follow in his way. This is the greatest life-giving treasure that I am called to steward; may I share this as freely as I have received it from the One who gave himself for the life of the world. May I be continually awakened to your love this day. Amen

Household Prayer: Evening

God, I do not like to confront what I cannot control; I shrink before my own limitations and human frailty. Help me to trust in your steadfast constancy and know that your sovereign goodness is all that I need. Teach me to number my days so that I may grow wise in heart, knowing that, no matter their length, I dwell in you eternally. Amen.

Looking ahead to Advent and Christmas, there are a number of music opportunities coming up. One of the more important will be a virtual singing of Away in a Manger by the children of Ark & Dove. If you would like your child to participate, we would love to have them sing! Drop me an email and I'll be in touch with further details in the next week or so.

Director of Music
This week we have a special anthem prepared for the service. Kim Champagne has been working hard on 'You Say' by Lauren Daigle for months now. I am super proud of her progress and she did a phenomenal job recording the song this week. We also recorded a hymn favorite, 'Take My Life,' the hymn with the chorus written by Chris Tomlin. I hope that you all are remaining healthy and safe. COVID cases are on the rise so please take all the necessary precautions recommended by the CDC and Governor Hogan to keep the virus contained.

God bless,
Director of Contemporary Music

This Sunday is Dedication Sunday
--From the Stewardship Team--
We are sincerely grateful for your continued prayers, love, commitment, and financial support this past year and we are so excited to see where God leads us as a congregation in the future. For the past 8 weeks we have heard from each elder on Session as well as the Board of Deacons during our 2021 Connections stewardship video series. They have thoughtfully presented the impact of their respective ministries and their vision for growth in 2021 and beyond. As we prepare for 2021, we hope that you will view all eight videos in the series again and reflect on all the ways that Ark and Dove keeps us connected to God and to each other and helps us answer the call to transform lives and carry God’s dream into the world. We pray that you will continue to engage in and support Ark and Dove with your giving.
This Sunday, November 15, is Dedication Sunday. May we freely and willingly give from what God has given to us to meet the needs of others in love and unity.

Advent Wreaths Coming Soon!
LOGOS and the Worship Ministry want to help each Ark and Dove family feel connected as we prepare for Christmas during ADVENT. We would like to give each Ark and Dove family an Advent wreath, so we can all light candles at home and count down toward Christmas. Please click here for a link to sign up to receive a wreath, let us know if you want it delivered, or if you can help deliver to other A&D families. If you do not sign up to have a wreath delivered, you can pick it up at church starting on Nov. 29 (more details to follow).

Social Equity and Racial Justice
Virtual Workshop This Tuesday
On Tuesday, November 17 from 6-8pm Showing Up for Racial Justice Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will explore the value of “Calling In, Not out." This 2 hr virtual workshop is designed to increase participants' ability to engage in conversations around race and racism. We will identify opportunities for "calling in" versus "calling out,” define white fragility and discuss how to navigate it, and learn tactics to address common microaggressions and racist statements. Ultimately, participants should leave the workshop with tools for calling more people into the movement for racial justice. Learn how to have conversations about racism with family and friends just in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

To register and receive zoom link prior to workshop, click here.

Youth Christian Education
Godly Play
Our Sunday school program for grades K-5 takes place via Zoom each Sunday from 9:00- 9:40 am. Our host welcomes the child(ren), the storyteller tells a story and then leads the children in reflection and wondering. Normally, our class would involve a work/creative response time as well, so our Godly Play team has put together response bags containing art supplies and other materials for the children to keep at home for personal use. If you are interested in getting a bag for your child(ren), or you have any questions about Godly Play or would like to be put on our list to receive zoom invitations, please contact Julie Devers, Christian Education Elder, at
LOGOS Weekly Lessons and Activities
LOGOS has begun; check your emails each Tuesday! LOGOS is Ark and Dove's midweek intergenerational experience for children and youth up to 8th grade. It is a time for all ages to come together to learn about God and grow in their relationships. Unlike previous years, we will not be meeting in the church building. Instead, each week will have a different family-centered activity to do either at home or outside at church. There will be crafts, games, bible study, and opportunities for worship and mission. If you’d like to get on the weekly emailing list, please contact Amy Goldberg at If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Jen Roman at
