Hello good souls of Saint Bede,

And we hope those who have started school found it to be Ok. It’s hard to begin again… especially after a long break!

Let's begin with a couple of reminders:

We are open again for Friday IN PERSON Mass at 9:00 am. Like we do on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, this Mass will be live-streamed as well. Next Sunday (not this Sunday) Sunday, September 20- we will resume our evening Mass at 5:00 pm. The Spanish Mass will move from 2:30 to 2:00 pm to accommodate the new schedule.

Registrations are open now for the religious formation for our Youth, middle schoolers, and children.

Sessions will begin on September 27 for all. Those children who are also preparing for First Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist – they will begin preparation for the Sacraments on September 21.
If you have questions: contact the offices of Christian Formation and/or youth ministry.

And now about the newly renovated Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. I speak as its rector. As of now and until the foreseeable future, the Shrine will host primarily Catholic Campus Ministry Masses and para-liturgical events and will be closed to any parish events except those specifically planned by the parish on a case by case basis.

One exception will be the upcoming Feast day of our Lady of Walsingham. The schedule for that day is as follows

  •     9:00 am Mass live-streamed from the shrine. (In-person Mass will be at 9:00 am in the Church on Ironbound Rd)
  •     10:00 -12:00 Newly renovated Shrine open for visits (open house) and private prayer
  •     12:00 Noon Angelus followed by the praying the Our Lady of Walsingham Rosary
  •     1:00 pm-3:00 pm Open House and private prayer
  •     3:00 Lecture by Michele Spike, author of The Holy House

A reminder to the parishioners: The staff of CCM (Marianne Guanieri, Fr. Nick Redmond, and John Hopke) should not be approached for any events to be scheduled in the Shrine –communal or personal.

In Covid times, the Shrine is not open for private visits or parish group prayers. We’re able to open Saint Bede for prayer–personal and communal- because we have someone-on-site to sanitize regularly. Thank you for your understanding.

Well, that’s enough for this week. We know the precautions in place are getting old – persevere and keep the faith. We’re keeping each other safe.
