 The Brooklyn Oratory Parishes

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Boniface

September 1, 2022

Online giving:

First Saturday 9:00 AM Mass at Assumption with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction on September 3.

The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day holiday.

No 12:10pm Mass at St Boniface on Monday, September 5.

9/11 Memorial Mass

On Sunday September 11, 2022, we will commemorate the 21st anniversary of 9/11 and the many lives lost and impacted by the attacks on our city and country. We will recall those who died by the attacks and those lost in response and rescue attempts in the celebration of the 9:30am morning Mass at Assumption Parish.

Because 9/11 is on a Sunday and there are city wide moments of silence between 8:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. FDNY is unable to join our Parish Mass. The Oratory will provide a Mass for the FDNY and their families at 11:00 a.m. at the Firehouse on Middagh Street.

The Brooklyn Heights Interfaith Clergy Association (BHICA) is also sponsoring an evening memorial on the Promenade. From 5-7 pm, you will have the opportunity to write a commemorative message and attach it to the Promenade railing. The service starts at 7:15 p.m. with gathering at the Montague Street entrance to the promenade. Members of the Oratory will be participating. If you are able to volunteer to hand out cards from 5-6 or 6-7 please contact the office and we will forward your information to the organizers. Please let the office know by Tuesday September at 3 p.m. if you want to volunteer.

Thank you St. Francis College!

As we near completion of the hall at Assumption, The Brooklyn Oratory Parishes extend a most sincere THANK YOU to St. Francis College! Over the past few months, we have been investigating a bulk chair purchase to serve the various events which will be held in the hall. As part of that endeavor SFC, currently engaging in a move from Remsen Street to their new campus on Livingston Street, has generously donated 72 like-new folding chairs and a rolling storage rack to our parish. In particular, we would like to thank SFC Staff Members Lance Mincey, Tim Murphy and SFC President Miguel Martinez-Saenz for their specific efforts to facilitate this donation. We appreciate your generously partnering with us to support the Catholic Church in Downtown Brooklyn!
