Dear Friends,
This Sunday we celebrate the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Now that we have begun a new Faith Formation Year I want to address briefly some of our parish needs!
Firstly, at all of our parish Masses we need volunteers to step forward and help with the various liturgical ministries. Training for these ministries can be done on a person to person basis. None of them are difficult. See the link above to the SignUp Genius Ministries to sign up for any Liturgical Ministry. We need Greeters, Ushers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar Servers and Choir Members!
Secondly, now that we have entered our busy time of year for parish life it is even more important that we have a steady income to help pay all of our bills. On-line giving remains the best way to support the parish. Please consider giving or moving your giving to the on-line platform. You can budget for the entire year and include special collections. Just click on the link provided in our parish financial updates section of this letter. You will be surprised how easy it is.
Finally, as we continue to deal with the uncertainty of Covid-19 we need to be supportive of one another. There is a need for all of us to be aware of how our actions, our choices, our views, can affect others around us. Let's be gentle with one another. We are only on this world for a short time. Jesus gave a rather simple message if we want to accept it; a message of love. Let's all be generous in our love for each other.
While this is a Third Sunday of the Month and I typically offer a Blessing for Married Couples at the end of the Mass, this Sunday is also Catechetical Sunday. Therefore I will offer a blessing for all Catechists, assistants, volunteers and students after the Sunday Masses. I will offer a blessing for Married Couples on 25 and 26 September!
As part of our Bicentennial Campaign, projects are ongoing on our campus. We have started work on the classrooms in the Family Life Center! While not all the rooms will be completed before the start of our Faith Formation programs, we can all appreciate the fresh look of new paint and new carpet! See the "before" pictures HERE.
It is never too late to make a donation to the Bicentennial Campaign as we receive 100% of all new donations! visit DONATE NOW!
Some brief, but important news and reminders:
We really NEED a volunteer to be the Coordinator of Lectors. PLEASE, If you are discerning taking on a leadership role in the parish and are interested in coordinating our Lectors contact Fr. Dennis by email at [email protected].
The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring the Coats for Kids Campaign through the end of October. The KofC has had successful Coats for Kids Campaigns for three straight years. There are collection bins in three areas of the parish campus: The narthex in the church, the entrance way of the family life center, and in the hallway outside of St. Andrew Hall. Please be generous with either new or lightly used coats for children/teens. Thank you!
Our first "MEET and GREET" for new parishioners since the start of the pandemic is on Saturday, 18 September from 3PM to 5PM in St. Andrew Hall. Crafts for kids in St. Ignatius Hall will be included to allow parents to mingle!
Check with your ministry leader for changes to parish meetings. Several groups have chosen not to meet in September!
The 8:00AM Hospitality Hour is taking a break due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. This ministry will return when the weather is cooler and hospitality can be held outside after Mass. The Regular Sunday 10:30AM Hospitality Hour is also not being held this Sunday.
Our Summer Mass Schedule has ended and the 5:00PM LIFE TEEN MASS has returned! Please join us!!!
Peace and all good,
Fr. Dennis
