Preston Feather and Barden Lumber unite for Northern Michigan's next chapter.

Two of Northern Michigan’s most trusted names in building, Preston Feather and Barden Lumber, have come together in a move that honors a shared past while building a stronger future. 

Preston Feather has announced its acquisition of Barden Lumber, the Boyne City-based supplier that has served contractors and homeowners since 1922, effective October 4, 2025. Together, the companies bring more than 200 years of combined experience, relationships, and regional commitment to the building industry.

For both teams, this transition is not just about growth. It is about legacy, values, and a deep investment in community.

Traverse City Expansion Project

We’re excited to share some more big news with you—Preston Feather has officially broken ground on a 30,000-square-foot expansion of our Traverse City facility!

This project is all about the future—more space means more service capacity, more inventory, and more ways for us to support the builders, contractors, and communities who count on us every day. It’s a big step in our long-term commitment to Northern Michigan and the incredible communities we’re proud to serve.



Construction is already underway and we plan to be ready to open the doors on this expansion in Spring of 2026. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming and to put these new resources to work for you.

HBA Aim for Building

The HBA of Northern Michigan's Aim For Building clay shoot at the Charlevoix Rod and Gun Club! The turnout was excellent with about 85 attendees this year and it continues to be a great opportunity for networking and some good old competition.
