Join us for a Workday this Saturday & Town Hall on Thursday, August 20th
A Special All-School Workday to Prepare Outdoor Classrooms
Saturday, August 15 from 9am to 3pm
Please join us! The focus of this workday will be on outdoor classroom preparation. Help us transform our Growing For Good and Wooded Acre spaces for our students' and teachers' return to school! As always, any amount of time that you can offer is much appreciated.
Tools to Bring: Work gloves, favorite tools for clearing brush (loppers, hand pruners, scythes, camp saws, hedge trimmers, weed whips), yard and garden rakes, cordless drills and impact drivers (with bits)
Where to Check-In: Growing For Good (520 E. Terhune St. in Viroqua)
COVID-19 Safety Protocol: All workday participants are expected to adhere to the following rules during the workday: maintain distance (to the degree possible depending on the project), wear a face covering, and stay outdoors (except to use the bathrooms). Doing so will help us focus on the work at hand. Older children are welcome to come and help, but we ask that they work alongside their parents and follow the same safety precautions.
Please note that this work will be ongoing. If you aren't able to attend the workday and would like to help, contact Brendan Froeschl(brendanfro@gmail.com) to get set up with a project. Thank you for your support!
PRWS Town Hall Meeting
Thursday, August 20, 2020 6:30-8pm via Zoom
Please join PRWS faculty, staff, board of directors, and fellow parents for our first in a series of Town Hall meetings to foster community courage and collectively imagine the coming school year. The meeting will be facilitated by Julia Ugo, PRWS Alumna (Class of 1997) and current parent of two PRWS students. We anticipate a significant turn-out, and as such will meet via Zoom to ensure participation by as many members of our community as possible. The meeting will also be recorded for those who are not available at the scheduled time.
We acknowledge that meeting via Zoom is not ideal and may seem somewhat incongruous with our plan to begin school this fall in-person. However, large social gatherings are not recommended at this time. Meeting via a familiar on-line platform will allow the whole community to hear important updates from the individuals who are closest to our back-to-school efforts. It will also allow for open sharing of questions, concerns and hopes for the year to come. We look forward to hearing not only what excites you, but also what still feels unanswered or daunting.
TOWN HALL AGENDA OVERVIEW:
What a school day will look like for students this fall - scenarios for which we are planning for
New daily rhythms
Outdoor Classrooms
Health and Safety Policy updates
Factors that will prompt a shift in scenarios; how these transitions will be facilitated
The most important changes that parents need to know
How to talk with our children and prepare for the coming year
Q & A
Please submit your top-of-mind questions as soon as possible! Gathering questions ahead of our meeting helps us understand what is most important for panelists to address during the Town Hall presentation.
If you see that your question has already been posted by another parent, simply ‘like’ it. Note there will also be space and time at the Town Hall for participants to ask clarifying questions following panelist presentations.
We recognize that every family in our school community has a unique perspective about the coming school year. The Town Hall series will hopefully allow each of us the opportunity to share ideas and concerns. Through collective sharing and community effort, we will most certainly rise to the occasion, and together ensure a safe, vibrant, and creative plan of action for the year ahead.
Next Steps:
The PRWS Returning to School Plan will be sent next week in advance of the Town Hall. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please review recent updates via our website here: https://pleasantridgewaldorf.org/our-school/covid-19/

We look forward to hearing from and connecting with you all over this next week!
