Each of these remarkable bronze bas reliefs have
descended within one prominent New England family
from the time they were produced by the artist
until the present.
The relief of Robert Louis Stevenson was a Christmas
gift from the artist, to his niece and her husband;
Eugenie and Oliver Emerson in 1900 and is dedicated
to them in the upper left and right of the sculpture. Both are mounted in the original period frames.
