Ukraine Shipments #9 and #10 Leave

Midwest Mission in Same Week

On Monday, March 20, a semi truck hauling an empty container backed up to the loading dock at Midwest Mission. Inside the warehouse, stacks of pallets lined the aisles and filled the loading dock, waiting to be rolled into the container. It was the day to load Ukraine shipment #9.

Since April 2022, Midwest Mission has shipped 10 containers full of disaster relief and health supplies to help those affected by the war.

We have seen how these donated items have been blessings for those who receive them. Rice Meals to feed a community near the front lines of the war; disposable diapers to a family who can’t go to the store; rain ponchos to create some sort of comfort despite rough conditions; socks and underwear to those who never thought they would be in such dire need of these simple necessities; and the list goes on.

Our partner in Ukraine, North Star Foundation, told us the needs - and you have continuously responded, sending tangible items they need, but also sending the life-changing intangibles: hope and empowerment to people you may never meet.

This shipment was no different. North Star asked for Rice Meals, Personal Dignity Kits, disposable diapers, and socks and underwear, among other items, and because of you, we were able to include all of these items on the shipment, as well as cleats that Underdog Sports, located in Springfield, IL, donated so that kids can feel like kids and play soccer together.

Inside the container was:

  • 37,720 Rice Meal Bags (226,320 individual meals)
  • 560 Personal Dignity Kits
  • 140,000 Pairs of food handling gloves
  • 3,311 Pieces of clothing (requested socks, underwear)
  • Redirect sporting goods
  • Body wipes
  • 4,500 Disposable diapers
  • 43 Blankets

The total value of this shipment was $122,440.00, and it weighed 43,370 lbs.

Thursday, March 23, the 10th shipment to Ukraine left the Midwest Mission warehouse.

Much like last week’s shipment to Turkey, this one contained 5 Minute Meals - Meals, Ready to Eat - donated by Baja Bridges to the Springfield Rotary Club. We were able to connect our partner, North Star Foundation, to this donation, and get needed meals into both Turkey and Ukraine.

In about four weeks, these meals will reach Poland, and then be loaded onto trucks where our trusted nonprofit partners will drive the meals to those who need them.

This shipment contained:

  • 25,920 5 Minute Meals (donated by Baja Bridges and Springfield Rotary Club)
  • 1,400 Personal Dignity Kits
  • 6,000 Rice Meal Bags (that will feed 36,000 individuals)

The total value of this shipment was $74,038.70, and it weighed 33,243 lbs.

Thank you to everyone who donated in answer to our specific needs, held Rice Meal packs, and gave monetary gifts.

Without you, shipments would not happen! Please be praying for these shipments specifically, as they travel to disaster sites where people are in crisis.

Prayers to Lift Up

This upcoming month, there are a lot of teams traveling to Midwest Mission, many staff members traveling to off-site events, and several shipments traveling to their final destinations. Please pray for protection for those traveling, and for the shipments to arrive safely!
