City Council Candidate Surveys
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce recently asked all announced candidates to complete a survey of critical business issues facing our city. In order to ensure our members are informed prior to entering the voting booth, the Chamber is providing the candidate's responses.
The survey questions were derived from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce's 2021 Legislative Agenda. Through the Legislative Agenda, the Chamber has identified its priority action items for the next year and beyond.
What follows are the responses (in alphabetical order by candidate last name) we received - as sent, in full and unedited.

Virtual City Council Candidate Meet & Greet
Join us for a “speed networking” type event where Candidates for Alexandria City Council and Mayor will hop from virtual table to table to have micro conversations and targeted discussions with each table of attendees. Participants will be grouped by topics of interest to better focus the conversations.
Due to the nature of the event seating is limited and we anticipate this event will sell out quickly.

What is Gather Town?
We have launched a virtual conference center on the Gather Town platform, where you can engage in video chats based on your virtual proximity to another attendee. Using Gather Town is easy, just click the event link (provided before each event) and you will become a virtual avatar with the ability to move around the space through the use of the arrows on your keyboard. Video and audio from other attendees will fade in as you ‘step’ closer and fade out as you ‘step’ away. You can also engage with one or all attendees via the chat function at any time.
Helpful Tips for a Smooth Gather Town Experience
- Gather Town works best on a desktop with the Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari browser.
- Mobile phones and Ipads are not recommended.
- Please note, Gather Town does not currently offer the ability to use a virtual background.
