Gratitude and rabbit holes. The housing market has gone from soft to vapor with all the economic uncertainty. I sat yesterday afternoon, looking at the flowers beginning to bloom with the increasing daylight in the yard. I was reading the news worldwide and realized how lucky I was to have a home, a full tummy, and my friends and family. Yes, we had planned a different spring, but life moves with unexpected twists and turns.
It has been a week of unexpected conversations. There are days when my sister seems beside me, and I hear her voice and sense that presence that is uniquely her. I wonder why I feel her near sometimes and not others, and she tells me, “Cause dumbass, I visit you on some days and not others.” and she makes me laugh. Conversations with friends echo the same experiences, things we don’t say because we don’t want to be mocked. Our world is restricted to our five senses as if we are the pinnacle of consciousness, and nothing else can exist beyond that.
A fascinating podcast with Annaka Harris on what consciousness is. Is consciousness emergent or foundational? The dominant Western narrative has been the Big Bang: atomic particles that somehow become atoms, then chemicals, then biochemicals, cells, critters, and us. Out of stardust and water comes consciousness. But many physicists and neuroscientists now are thinking we have the narrative backwards. That consciousness is the foundation of the universe and all we cannot dream. That consciousness is embedded in atoms, in space and in time. We become a tiny point, a tiny of expression of consciousness in all that is, has been and we be. Not the pinnacle, yet sacred as all life is sacred. Not God worship, but kin ship.
“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Shakespeare
Hope you have a great week. Kim Joy is the sister of wonder, I hope you feel wonder this week.

Women’s History
Women, We Should Know
Margaret Moth
When Margaret Moth was shot through the face by a Serbian sniper in Sarajevo in 1992, her life was in the balance. But after two years and a dozen operations of reconstructive surgery, she persuaded CNN to let her get back to work. So where did she demand to go? To those who knew her, that was a no-brainer: Sarajevo. "I want to go back to look for my teeth," she joked. In the end, it was neither that bullet nor the many others she faced thereafter that killed her; she died of colon cancer at the age of 58.
Moth, her native New Zealand's first female camera operator on national TV news, became known to her colleagues as "the Lady in Black". There was the jet-black hair, the thick black eyeliner which emphasised her piercing blue eyes, the black clothes, black socks, the black army boots she slept in while on assignment, the black rollerblades she took to Baghdad to scoot around her hotel lobby to unwind. She even painted their wheels black. Phil Davidson, The Independant

This Week's Recommendation
Crash Landing on You
Netflix
Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) is a successful South Korean businesswoman and chaebol heiress. One day, while paragliding in Seoul, she is blown off course by a tornado and crash-lands in the North Korean portion of the DMZ. Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin), a member of the North Korean elite and a captain in the Korean People's Army is patrolling and discovers Se-ri. He is persuaded to hide her and help her return to the South.
100% on Rotten Tomatoes - Fun Romcom series for dark cold days. I enjoying it, learning a little about south Korea and north Korea and how similiar we are once we scratch the surface of our cultures.
