Two Rivers Fly Shop

Spring fly fishing is here!  Trout are just starting to look up for dry flies and this will only get better from here on.  The rivers are generally low for this time of year but more fishable than they would normally be.  There are some fantastic fishing opportunities coming up, hope you are ready!

Explore Fly Fishing Class:  May 12, 14, 16
This 3 session class for beginners will cover casting, knots, flies, bugs, equipment, rigging, reading water and more!  The two evening sessions are from 6:30 pm to 9:00pm at the fly shop and include casting instruction in a nearby park.  The third class is a fishing trip to a stocked trout pond mfw about 30 miles from Albany to practice your new skills and hopefully learn about fighting and landing trout on a fly rod!  The price for this class is $195.00 per person.
Fishing Opportunities
I fished Quartzville Creek on Monday.  It was a beautiful spring day (see photos on Facebook).  I caught several trout on a Prince nymph and two small trout on a dry golden stone pattern.  May should be amazing on this rugged little creek.
News of steelhead on the Siletz and the South Santiam are coming in.               If you have a boat the Willamette above Harrisburg has been fishing well for trout with nymphs and dries.  The Middle Fork Willamette below Oakridge has been fishing ok with nymphs but the dry fly action can't be far away.  Have heard some good reports from the McKenzie as well, and the upper Mckenzie is now open.
The Crooked river is fishing good with size 18 - 22 nymphs and midge patterns.  Some lakes east of the cascades are starting to fish well already (should still be under snow in a normal year).
Lots of water to fish. Several rivers are open all year, some opened for trout on April 25th and more rivers will open on May 23rd.  Many of Oregon's lakes are open all year.
Tying Materials
Dyed starling skins will make some great soft hackle flies or use them to simulate eyes on steelhead flies.  Come see the Hungarian Partridge skins dyed in red, orange, or purple for soft hackles, nymphs, and steelhead flies!  Try Spirit River's two-tone Bug Body foam for your adult Salmon fly and Golden Stone fly patterns.
