Making with Clay and Fiber: A Workshop with Tahir Carl Karmali
Sunday, April 8 at 5pm
In this workshop, participants will mix clay with raffia fibers to create two small- to medium-sized sculptures. The raffia fibers are offcuts from Tahir Carl Karmali's work currently featured in the exhibition  Factors of Production, and were collected by the artist in the Congo and in his home country of Africa. When mixed together, the raffia changes the properties of the clay in surprising and exciting ways. Delicate shapes and forms can be created with ease, which is nearly impossible to achieve with standard clay. In addition to creating these sculptures, participants will learn the history of this unique process.
*Space is very limited. Please RSVP to robert@racheluffnergallery.com by Thursday, April 5th.
*Rachel Uffner Gallery will be closed on Sunday, April 1st.
