The 1949 Ford was the first all-new automobile design introduced by the Big Three after World War II, civilian production having been suspended during the war, and the 1946-1948 models from Ford, GM, and Chrysler being updates of their pre-war models. Popularly called the "Shoebox Ford" for its slab-sided, "ponton" design, the 1949 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders and more. These 1949-51 Fords delivered V8 performance and were incredibly popular among customizers and hot-rodders for many years. Stock examples like these two are very collectible today.

Motorcar Classics is proud to present this very rare 1950 Ford Crestliner Custom Deluxe Convertible. For most of 1950 the upscale two-tone Crestliner trim was only offered on Fords two-door sedan with a Black vinyl roof. But in late 1950 the Crestliner trim was made available on the convertible, and this is one of very few 1950 Custom Deluxe convertibles with the Crestliner trim.
Our fully-restored car is featured in Cambridge Maroon with Black inserts and a matching Black canvas convertible top. It has a Black and Maroon vinyl interior. The convertible top and glass rear window were replaced in 2009. The car was mechanically refreshed in 2012 and it is safe, reliable and a delight to drive. At that time the window channels, hoses, belts, distributor, carburetor, intake manifold, wiring harness, and all brake components were replaced. The battery was replaced in 2016. Recorded mileage is 56,690. The car is powered by Fords iconic 239CI V8 with 3-speed manual transmission and overdrive. These Shoebox Fords were very popular in their time, and they remain driver-friendly and highly collectible today. This car is an exceptional example.
