When one of these candidates is elected, he or she becomes responsible as a Board director for the financial and academic performance of their school board as managed by their Director of Education in Ontario or their Superintendent in British Columbia.
The academic responsibility is the basis for placing a trustee candidate into one of two camps, the "status quo" camp or the "wise changes" camp.
The "wise changes" camp is characterized as Common Sense.

The "status quo" camp is characterized as Progressive.

- Lots of homework
The current list for the "wise changes" camp has the names of 77 trustee candidates in it, 15 for Ontario school board elections and 62 for British Columbia school board elections.
