Tomorrow! CAEP Learning Circle: Understanding and Using the Adult Education Pipeline Dashboard 6.0 Data for Annual Planning and Program Improvement

Join WestEd for a 1.5-hour virtual Adult Education Pipeline (AEP) Dashboard Learning Circle tomorrow! This learning circle will focus on navigating the AEP Dashboard and using CAEP outcomes data to inform planning, carryover strategies and targets, and continuous improvement efforts. WestEd will first walk through the AEP dashboard, highlighting navigation, disaggregation features, visualizations, and key data points. From there, WestEd will engage in shared learning and peer discussions on using the AEP dashboard and questions. This is a time to learn, share your successes and challenges, build solutions with your colleagues, and stimulate thinking about annual planning that identifies relevant goals and targets based on your CAEP outcomes data.

The CAEP Summit 2023 Call for Proposals will close in two weeks! Have you submitted a proposal yet? If not, what’s holding you back? We want to hear from you and the amazing work you are doing to support learners to meet their personal educational goals.

Additionally, since the Summit is two and half days, the chances of competing sessions taking place at the same time is reduced.

At the CAEP Summit 2022, the Kern Adult School Recycling Lives course was recognized! The course provides adult learners with the principles of recycling glass, including entrepreneurship and business fundamentals, in response to increased homelessness, long-term unemployment, substance abuse, and previously incarcerated individuals in need of job readiness/workforce development opportunities. A multi-agency collaborative partnership was created to infuse education and workforce development in a concerted effort to assist the hardest to serve return to living wage employment. Bakersfield Adult School (Kern High School District) partners with County of Kern, Kern Alliance for Business (a non-profit public benefit corporation serves as the non-profit arm of Employers’ Training Resource (ETR)) and Foundation for Community College. In two weeks, the Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program nomination period for 2023 will close! Be amongst the innovative programs to be recognized at the CAEP Summit 2023. The CAEP Office welcomes nominations of California Adult Education Programs, demonstrating innovative, emerging, or model practices for the Advancing CA Adult Education Award and recognition at California’s CAEP Summit. Model CAEP programs must be aligned to approved CAEP program areas and the adult education state priorities: learner transition, program development, equity, leadership, technology and distance learning, program evaluation, and marketing. The adult education state priorities align with the CCCCO Vision for Success goals and the CDE Superintendent’s Initiatives.

Benefits to participating in the project:

  1. Showcase a new, emerging, and/or promising program.
  2. Share practices with other adult education programs and practitioners.
  3. A video capturing the highlights of the top two scoring programs is created.
  4. All qualifying program nominations are published on the CAEP website.
  5. All qualifying program nominations are recognized at the annual CAEP Summit.
  6. Stories and videos may be highlighted at conferences throughout California and distributed to local, regional, and state officials.

How to participate in the project:

Nominations must highlight a California Adult Education Program (CAEP) approved program area and may be submitted by any CAEP funded agency during the open nomination period. This year’s nomination period is March 1, 2023 - June 30, 2023. All nominations will be reviewed for completeness and for how closely they address the rubric criteria stated on the nomination form. Incomplete nominations and nominations that do not address the rubric criteria will not be considered.

Input Needed! CA Digital Equity Plan

California wants to hear your thoughts on Digital Equity! California is developing a Digital Equity Plan to ensure equal access to digital technologies, services and resources for all individuals and communities within the state. The goal is to bridge the digital divide and promote digital inclusion, thereby reducing disparities in digital access, skills, and opportunities. Another goal is to address barriers to digital equity and develop strategies to provide affordable broadband access, promote digital literacy and skills development, and support the use of digital technologies in various sectors such as education, healthcare, workforce development, and civic engagement.

To inform the Digital Equity plan, the California Department of Technology (CDT) has developed two comprehensive digital equity surveys. These surveys aim to identify the barriers and needs of individuals in unserved and underserved communities, informing the State's Digital Equity Plan.

The Digital Equity Survey, to be taken by individuals, is intended to identify the digital equity barriers and needs of California’s residents (everyone, including adult learners). The Digital Equity Ecosystem Mapping Tool, to be completed by agencies, is requesting partners to map their digital equity work to help the State develop an inventory of organizations, programs, funding, and other resources that are, or can be, leveraged to promote digital equity and support the implementation of the Digital Equity Plan.

Access the complete informational letter with additional links to resources here. The deadline to complete the surveys is June 30, 2023. Let your voice be heard!
