Mid-Atlantic Office to Midland
The Town of Midland has landed another new project. Sealand Contractors Corporation is relocating their Mid-Atlantic Regional Office from Charlotte to Midland, NC. Sealand will field 150 employees out of the Midland office, predominantly focused on heavy highway construction throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The office will be relocated within the Midland town limits on Highway 24/27 near the Mecklenburg County line.
Concord & Kannapolis Make the List of Top 10 Safest Cities in NC
Two of North Carolina's Top 10 Safest Cities are right here in Cabarrus County! According to a report by Safehome.org, Kannapolis is the 6th and Concord is the 9th safest cities in the state. These findings were based on several factors, including the FBI's latest report of how many and what types of crimes occurred, the city's crime trends, and the number of law enforcement officers compared of the city's population.
NC Works Local Innovation Fund Awards $400,000 Grant to RCCC
The NC Works Local Innovation Fund awarded a $400,000 grant to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to provide assistance and job training for individuals with a criminal record who want to return to the workforce.

According to a recent article by the Independent Tribune, the funding will go to RCCC's new Re-Build Your Future Program, which will offer training for in-demand jobs in the construction and trucking industries.
Local Developer Shares Plans for Downtown Concord Building
A local developer plans to open a $7 million apartment, office and commercial project in the former Cabarrus Savings Bank on historic Union Street in Downtown Concord. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, 57 South and the Residences at 57 South should be ready for tenants by the end of 2019, with retail space along Union Street coming available by the third quarter of this year.
