“As to the wines, I confess to being quite surprised as to how good they are because I didn't expect it. I would describe them as being a blend of 2013 and 2014." Etienne Grivot
“Grivot continues to produce remarkable wines. He hit a home run in 2015 but his 2016s are almost as good.” – Allen Meadows

2016 Domaine Jean Grivot
Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits
91-94 points Burghound
"A distinctly earthy nose flashes notes of plum, dark currant, violet and discreet but not invisible wood. The rich, full-bodied and powerful big-bodied flavors terminate in a mildly edgy and austere but impressively long finish. Note that my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will ultimately harmonize if allowed at least a few years of bottle age." - Allen Meadows (01/15/2018)

Nuits-Saint-Georges, “Aux Boudots” 1er Cru
91-94 points Burghound
"Here the wood treatment isn't subtle though neither is it sufficient to overshadow the wonderfully fresh and layered nose of blue pinot fruit, cassis, earth and broad range of spice elements. The mouthfeel of the broad-shouldered flavors is equally seductive and even sleeker but despite the generous mid-palate there is solid muscle and a firm core of tannins supporting the powerful and driving finish. As big as this is, it still manages to remain refined and well-balanced. Lovely stuff but once again, extended patience will be required if you wish to experience this at its peak." - Allen Meadows (01/15/2018)
