Join the Texas Girls Collaborative Project for our second annual Texas Women and Girls in STEM Summit designed to share best practices, connect organizations and individuals, and showcase outstanding efforts to increase the number of girls in STEM and support the retention of women in STEM careers. Calling all Educators! You are invited to participate in a Science Action Club Activity Leader workshop to bring citizen science to your middle-school youth!
Science Action Club features three science and nature units (Bugs, Birds and Clouds) that spark curiosity and wonder, build scientific skills, and help youth develop STEM identities
Each unit includes:
- One guidebook with detailed plans for 12 nature investigations and citizen science experiences.
- One teaching kit with high quality science tools and supplies for 20 youth.
- One interactive online training.
- One half-day face-to-face workshop.
- Digital access to the SAC Educator Portal.
- Ongoing support from a SAC trainer.

SciGirls
, a PBS KIDS weekly series and website, is out to change how millions of tween girls think about science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM!
Participants attending the 3 hour workshop will:
- Learn latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM
- Experience 4 hands-on STEM activities including light up circuit dough creatures, slow-falling parachutes, bouncing balls and wind measuring devices
- Leave with curriculum for over 25 hands-on, video enhanced activities that put a creative twist on teaching STEM
- Learn how to modify any activity to excite and engage kids in STEM using the SciGirls Seven
- Discover additional online resources that enhance teaching and learning experiences for all kids

The Energy Teacher Resource is a collaboration between the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) and BP designed to provide resources and support on energy and energy use, especially for those charged with leading the education of our youth. Expert educators, museum professionals, and scientists have chosen the collection of energy literacy activities.

The AIAA Foundation believes that one of the most significant means to inspire and advance the future of aerospace is to award grants to worthy projects that significantly influence student learning in STEM subjects. Each school year, the AIAA Foundation Classroom Grant program awards grants of up to $500 to innovative aerospace activities within the prescribed curriculum of K–12 classrooms.

LLI Southwest is a two-day professional development conference that is designed for teachers to share their practical classroom skills with other teachers in the southwest region. Featuring fishbowl classrooms, active learning sessions, and collaborative events, LLI Southwest is the new generation of authentic, effective teacher training.
Austin, TX; January 24th
This workshop will demonstrate how you can use biomimicry design challenges to engage your students in core content standards while enhancing 21st century skills. This training is offered as part of the Biomimicry Youth Design Challenge (YDC), a free education program and design competition from the Biomimicry Institute that introduces middle and high school students to biomimicry and provides professional development support to teachers. Thanks to a partnership between the Biomimicry Institute, EcoRise, and BiomimicryTX we are able to support teachers from the Austin area as they implement the program in their classroom or co-curricular program.
Manor, TX; February 9th
The 2019 Mini-CAST (Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching) is a one-day version of the state-wide conference that supports the mission to provide high quality professional development for PK - 12th grade science teachers. Participants will attend workshops and short courses provided by teachers and science education experts. There are also plenty of opportunities to network with fellow science teachers, visit with exhibitors, and learn about resources to help teachers provide the best possible science experiences for their students.

DeSTEMber’s online activity blogs and write-ups are provided as a resource to explore STEM at home, or for educators to use in their classrooms.
