Tyler Roberts, a young man in his twenties, was searching for truth. He learned of the Adventist message on Facebook after interacting with an Adventist named Chris Hamilton. Roberts soon visited the Wilmington church and members quickly adopted him. They made sure he had a ride to church events and Sabbath worships. Roberts also connected with Shoemaker’s Zoom Bible study and soon decided to dedicate his life to Jesus through baptism.
The crowning event of 2021 outreach at the Wilmington church happened at their fall “Welcome Home Sabbath.” Leading up to this weekend, members focused on reaching inactive and former members as well as recent visitors. Members sent out more than 50 cards to this specific group. That Sabbath, attendance more than doubled to 77, with non-members numbering over 30. The highlights of the day were a baptism, profession of faith and a baby dedication.
The 2023 Initiative is about more than just a numeric ministry goal. For Ohio, it is these stories of churches across the territory rallying together in community to share the gospel.
