INTRODUCING TYNDALE'S VALUES!

We Are Excited to Share Our New Values!

After a thorough and collaborative process involving our leadership team and the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to reveal the new values that will guide Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre into the future. These values were crafted through extensive discussions and reflections, ensuring they truly represent the principles we stand for and aspire to embody as we continue to serve the Little Burgundy community.

Our new values not only reflect our commitment to growth and empowerment but also encapsulate our dedication to inclusivity and integrity. They are the bedrock of our mission and will inspire our strategies, decisions, and interactions within the community we cherish.

Here are the values we are proud to uphold:

Respect for Past, Present, and Future: We acknowledge who and what has come before us, the place we live in, and the people who have shaped our community. We are responsive to the needs of our evolving community, now and moving forward. We demonstrate respect for people and organizations through our words and actions.

Breaking Cycles through Empowerment: We invest in people, and plant seeds for

growth, so that each generation of Little Burgundy residents is empowered to have a

better quality of life and to break the cycles of vulnerability.

Leading with Integrity: We put the best interest of Tyndale St-Georges above ourselves, are honest in our interactions and hold ourselves accountable for our actions and the outcomes of our

decisions.

Fostering Community and Care for One Another: We support and develop our community by caring for people through relationships that go beyond the transactional, where everyone contributes in the neighbourly tradition that Little Burgundy was built on.

Practicing Inclusion in All Its Forms: Tyndale St-Georges is a place where everyone who walks through the doors can feel a sense of belonging, that “this is a place for me”. We value diversity, equity, fairness and accessibility. We welcome people as they are, and grow in our practice of inclusion together.

These values were developed to not only guide our operations and strategies but also to strengthen the bonds within our community, ensuring that Tyndale St-Georges remains a beacon of support and progress. We look forward to implementing these values in our daily work and seeing the positive changes they will bring to our community.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE STRATEGIC PLANNING

The strategic planning for Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre, facilitated by Linuvia Inc., has been meticulously crafted to address both present and future community needs effectively. The process was marked by a collaborative effort involving extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and senior leadership. The plan's foundation is rooted in a comprehensive SWOT analysis, which identifies the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, ensuring a well-rounded approach to future initiatives.

Key highlights include:

  • A clear reinforcement of the mission and values of the organization.
  • Strategic orientations for the next three years focusing on improving service quality, expanding community outreach, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Development of new initiatives aimed at increasing engagement and measuring impact, supported by detailed roadmaps and performance indicators.
  • Emphasis on governance refinement and leveraging board capabilities for greater organizational impact.

This strategy promises to steer Tyndale St-Georges towards impactful community service, with a robust framework for continuous improvement and adaptation to the evolving needs of the Little Burgundy community.

EMPOWERING FUTURE LEADERS: THE SUCCESS OF

THE CREATIVE MINDS COLLECTIVE

Our strategic plan in action

The Creative Minds Collective, inaugurated by Tyndale St-Georges in the fall, is in response to a community need. This impactful program aims to empower young girls from the Little Burgundy community through diverse and creative skill-building activities. This initiative provides a nurturing environment where participants can explore their passions and develop essential life skills. Alongside regular sessions, the program includes engaging outings and a variety of workshops ranging from cooking to innovative Shadow Work, which explores emotional intelligence and self-awareness. By fostering personal growth, resilience, and leadership, the Collective equips young women to become influential figures in their everyday lives and future leaders in their communities. The success of the program is evident not only in its participants' enhanced confidence but also in the positive change they inspire, solidifying the Collective's crucial role in shaping an empowered generation of young women.

Want to join the Creative Minds Collective? The group meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm. Send them a message now!

CREATING CONNECTIONS: A JOYFUL SATURDAY AT TYNDALE ST-GEORGES CHILDREN'S LIBRARY WITH BEN

In April, as we celebrated World Autism Month, we were thrilled to highlight a wonderful event that embodied the spirit of Creating, Connecting, and Community. On Saturday, April 6th, The Tyndale St-Georges Children's Library was delighted to host Ben, painter, author and sculptor, for an engaging afternoon dedicated to our young book lovers. Ben captured the children's imagination with lively readings from the popular Yeti series and a creative session on sculpting blue whales. 🐋The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by all the children were truly inspiring! We are excited to continue offering such enriching experiences at our Community Centre and eagerly anticipate welcoming Ben and all of you again. Don’t forget to visit @benanimalia and give them a follow for more delightful content! 📚❤️

A MEMORABLE FIRST FOR OUR YOUNG PARTICIPANTS

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Hewitt Group, several of our young participants recently experienced their very first HABS game! Accompanied by their dedicated After School Program educator, Jason, they enjoyed an exciting and unforgettable evening, cheering on their favorite team and building lasting memories. This wonderful opportunity was not just about watching a hockey game; it was a chance to foster community spirit and camaraderie among our youth. We are deeply grateful to Hewitt Group for making these impactful experiences possible.

THE ANNE JOHNSON FISH SCHOLARSHIP

We are still taking applications for the Anne Johnson Fish Scholarship. If you are a student in secondary 3, 4 & 5 or in post secondary studies, you can apply to receive the scholarship.
