9. Staff Spotlight
A St. Louis native, Mr. Swatek attended Riverview Gardens High School, then moved on to MIT, from which he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer
Science and Engineering. He spent some 15 years in the engineering field, most recently at Xerox Corporation in El Segundo writing diagnostic code for high-speed, state-of-the-art printers. Having
accomplished that dream, Mr. Swatek obtained his teaching credential and Master's degree in Education and left to teach high school. Fun fact, he actually considered becoming a History teacher, but ultimately decided to hold forth on the beauty of Mathematics. He spent 10 years at Hawthorne High School, and then the last 16 at PVHS. Mr. Swatek says he would actually never leave the classroom, but if he did, he would enjoy traveling and ballroom dancing.
