1. Academics Spotlight
Ms. Parkinson's classes have been making adjustments all year to ensure they are following the guidelines. With instrument covers, physical distancing, and outside practice only, she has found a way to make sure her students are still able to be engaged in class. Ms. Parkinson teaches Orchestra, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and AP Music Theory.
2. Athletics Spotlight
Boys Lacrosse beat Yorba Linda 12-7 and will play in the quarterfinals of the CIF D1 playoffs next week.

Girls Lacrosse beat West Ranch 17-5 and will move on to the CIF quarterfinals this week.

Baseball beat Peninsula 14-3 and 4-1 to end regular season with a 16-6 record. Good luck in CIF next week!

Softball lost to Culver City 14-6 and beat Peninsula 11-1. Congratulations on a great season!

Boys Golf competed in the Ocean League individuals where Matthew Kang placed 3rd and Henry Carr placed 5th. Both players will advance to the CIF Regional Championship!

Girls Golf competed in the Ocean League individuals where Frances Kim came in 3rd, Keira Wang came in 5th and Meg Yosida came in 7th. All will advance to the CIF Regional Championship!

Boys Basketball beat Saugus in the first round of CIF 53-41. They lost to Santa Margarita 82-63. Congratulations to our entire team on a great season!

Track & Field competed in Bay League finals with highlights from Nick Michaels in the 110 meter hurdles, Anna Terrell in the 400 meter

Boys Tennis beat San Marino and Loyola to make it to the CIF Division 1 final against Claremont. The team lost to Claremont 12-6 but still earned the title of CIF Dvision 1 Runner Up. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our Swim team who competed in CIF this weekend. Boys were 3rd place overall and girls were 45th place overall. Some of the highlights include:

  • Girls 100 Fly: 16th place: 1:01.58 - Abbie Maemoto
  • Boys 100 Fly: 13th place: 53.77 - Henry Boyle
  • Boys 100 Free: 13th place 49.23 - Aidan Wattson
  • Girls 500 Free: 15th place 5:27.14 - Mackie Whitehead
  • Boys 500 Free: 12th place 4:55.73 - Jonathan Ross
  • Boys 200 Free Relay: 2nd place - 1:27.80 (Campbell, Boyle, Wattson, A, Criley, W)
  • Boys 100 Breast: 11th place - 1:00.15 - Griffin Colomer

3. Slam Poetry Spotlight
Tradewinds' students shared their poetry Wednesday night in the annual Poetry Slam. The crowd enjoyed an evening in Sea King Park and was inspired by listening to students' poetic words and passions expressed on the stage. The event was organized by Abbie Maemoto and included 15 members of Tradewinds.

5. Glass Blowing Spotlight
This week the art department was excited to bring back our glass blowing program. Sea King students were able to learn about the techniques in glass blowing and created ceramic stamps to cast in glass.
6. Student Spotlight
Congratulations to senior Emma Saul for being the PVHS 2021 PEF Senior Scholarship recipient. Emma's scholarship will go towards her post-secondary education at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy where she will pursue studies in international relations and communications. Congratulations and thank you to PEF for your support of students!
7. Student Spotlight
Rose Feng, Girls JV Tennis Singles MVP, had a phenomenal season representing PV Sea Kings with unrelenting determination and unyielding passion. Rose was undefeated in league matches and became the Bay League Finals Champion, 
winning her first two matches with intense precision and a near perfect victory in the final match against three very prominent opponents. Fantastic work Rose! Congratulations!
8. Student Spotlight
Carter Merchant, the 2020 Junior Men's National Archery Champion attended his first international tournament in May.
He competed for the Unites States Archery Team in Medellin, Columbia at the Pan American Junior Games Qualifier. Carter and his teammates were successful in securing all of the spots for the US team to move on to the Championships to be held later this year in Cali, Columbia. He is now practicing hard for his busy 2021 national competition circuit.
9. Staff Spotlight
Jim Warren has been selected for the Air Force Association (AFA) Teacher of the Year (TOY) program. The AFA shared that Mr. Warren’s hard work, outstanding STEM teaching, and dedication to his students add tremendous value to our local community are just some of the reasons he was chosen for this prestigious award. They were further impressed with the “Einstein Physics” class and the level of influence and inspiration he has with his students through Physics and other extracurricular activities. Congratulations Mr. Warren!

  • Textbook return starts today! Stop by the library to return your textbooks and checked-out devices such as Chromebooks from 7:00am - 2:30pm. Seniors are highly encouraged to return their textbooks today. Hybrid and DLA students may return Chromebooks and chargers when they turn in their textbooks, however, if the student will need their Chromebook to access classes, please turn it in no later than June 11th
  • Glowcoming tickets are on sale today for all students! Tickets are $75 w/ASB and $80 w/out. Tickets will be sold all week and will be $100 at the door.
  • Yearbook distribution today for all hybrid students who purchased yearbooks!

Wednesday June 2nd
  • Minimum B-Day, all students virtual. Click here for the bell schedule.
  • Drive thru textbook and Chromebook return from 11:30am - 2:30pm for all grades
  • Yearbook distribution for all DLA students who purchased yearbooks from 12:00-3:00pm

Thursday June 3rd

  • Textbook and Chromebook return continues today in the library for all grades
  • Students who would like to purchase a yearbook or who were unable to receive their yearbook should see Mrs. Kostrencich in Room 503 between 7:00-1:00. After that, yearbooks will be held in the Student Store for a limited time.

Friday June 4th

  • Textbook and Chromebook return continues today in the library for all grades
  • All students are invited to our GLOWCOMING tonight from 7:30-10:30pm! GLOWCOMING is PV High's end of year carnival with games, food, rides, dancing, and more! Tickets include access to all areas of the event including food and rides. Don't miss out of the end of year celebration! Buy your tickets ASAP in the student store!
