Volume II Issue 6 ~ October 6th, 2019
1. Academics Spotlight
Student in Mrs. Warrens art classes hosted a TASK party. A TASK party is an event in which party members draw tasks (written by the host) from a bucket, perform the task, write a new one, and continue. The tasks can be as wildly imaginative as possible, and as craft-like as you want.

Some of our Tasks included:
Build a cardboard tower that touches the ceiling, make a mask that has magical powers, build a musical instrument, create a shadow puppet show, or m ake a heartfelt present and give it to someone

It was random, fun and taught taught kids how to use creativity to improvise and play.
2. Athletics Spotlight
Football beat Mira Costa 34-9.

Boys Water Polo beat Redondo 17-8. They also were the champions of the S & R Sport D2 showcase, defeating Mira Costa 12-6 in the final championship game. Congrats boys!

3. Homecoming Game
Friday Sea Kings celebrated our homecoming game with a packed Red Tide section and sold out stands. Our Sea Kings took on Mira Costa and dominated on the field 34-9. During halftime ASB recognized all of our Homecoming court nominees. Congratulations to our Sophomore Prince and Princess George Bornheimer and Isabella Firmani and our Junior Prince and Princess Andre Lendi and Maleha Innocent!
4. Homecoming Movie Night
As part of our Homecoming week activities, students had the opportunity to hang out with friends in Sea King park for our annual movie night. Students were able to watch Pirates of the Caribbean, eat popcorn, drink hot chocolate, and enjoy spending time with their friends.
5. Homecoming Rally
The homecoming rally is something that our Sea Kings look forward to every year and this year was no exception. Our Choreo team performed an amazing dance number and our Senior cheer and song members teamed up with our Senior football players for their annual dance performance. The rally continued with an introduction of all of the homecoming court nominees and fun games for everyone to play.
6. Homecoming Dance
PV High hosted our first ever FOAMcoming dance as a culmination of a great homecoming week. While keeping with the pirates theme, students got to dance the night away on the high seas with more bubbles and foam than anyone could imagine. With over 600 students in attendance, the dance floor was packed along with the photo booth all night long. Thank you ASB, Mrs. Maxfield and Mrs. Camp for all of your hard work in creating such a memorable homecoming 2019!
7. College and Career Center
The CCC hosted a FASFA workshop night for seniors and their families. Seniors need to submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to the colleges to which they are applying in order to determine if they are eligible for any financial aid awards. Jessica Medina from the University of Southern California, went through the FAFSA line by line and answered questions. Thank you to the CCC for hosting this important event!
8. Staff Spotlight
Brian Shapiro, Athletic Director and Cross Country coach, has been selected by the Southern Section as the 2018-19 Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year. The selection to receive this prestigious honor is based upon the positive work that Brian has done with the athletes in his program.
