International Concussion Conference

University of Michigan Concussion Center faculty, staff, and student members made their way over to Amsterdam, Netherlands, to attend the 6th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport from October 27-28. The conference presented new research surrounding concussion and its definition, management, treatment, return-to-play protocols, and long-term effects. Center member research was highlighted throughout the conference's podium and poster presentations.

DEIJ In Action

The U-M Concussion Center values diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) and has placed these values at the center of all we do. Each quarter, we highlight our members' work that helps foster an inclusive community where we continue to maximize individual and societal health.

Female Athlete Under-Representation

U.S. Air Force Academy professor Dr. Christopher D'Lauro led a review identifying female athletes are under-represented in research informing three influential concussion consensus statements.

BIAMI Fall Conference

Center faculty members hosted two informative sessions (CARE Consortium presentation and Q&A panel) during the Brain Injury Association of Michigan Fall Conference in September.

A study co-authored by School of Kinesiology PhD student Adrian Boltz examined NCAA male and female student-athletes to determine the odds of concussion symptoms appearing together.
