The US Branches (Gulf - Houston, West Coast and NE Coast) are hosting a joint conference on the theme of 'Adapting to emerging technologies' on 16 and 17 October in Galveston, Texas.
This two-day event will bring together speakers, sponsors and mariners to explore the future of the U.S. Merchant Marine and its leadership role on the world stage when it comes to adapting to new and emerging technologies.
Attendees will:
- Listen to and engage with subject matter experts on new and emerging technologies (alternative fuels, integrated systems, autonomous shipping, etc.)
- Learn how technological advancements are being applied to ship operations.
- Learn how design and new equipment will force the mariner to adapt and explore the Human Element aspects of how this may be achieved.
- Understand how technological changes will affect current training requirements for seafarers and other staff.
- Recognize where new opportunity and exposure is developing
- Understand where career development opportunities are emerging and how to use a Nautical Institute Membership to access them.
- Meet, engage, and develop lasting networks with maritime professionals from many industry sectors, both afloat and ashore.
- Engage with the next generation of maritime professions at the Texas A&M Maritime Academy.
