US Empire's Warmongering Gets Sneakier
Caitlin Johnstone
Original title: "THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF ALL TIME"
|
|
EXCERPTS
US foreign policy in the 2000s emphasized giant overt ground invasions (Iraq, Afghanistan). In the 2010s it shifted emphasis to arming proxies (Yemen, Libya, Syria). In the 2020s it’s moved to staging massive proxy conflicts on the borders of its top two rivals (Ukraine, Taiwan).
And yet the empire is still just as murderous and destructive as it was under the Bush administration. Its creation of the Ukraine conflict is just as evil as anything Bush or Obama did. More so really, because now we’re getting closer and closer to nuclear annihilation... And people are getting left behind as the warmongering gets sneakier. Many people who opposed Bush’s warmongering are now cheerleaders for the US proxy warriors orchestrating conflicts with Russia and China. It’s important to work to keep the manipulators from confusing people.
❖Imperial information control has two major components: secrecy and manipulation.
Government secrecy keeps people from knowing about the evil things the empire is doing.
Propaganda and censorship manipulate public thought about the evil things that can’t be kept secret.
Imperial secrecy takes the form of government classification and opacity and the brutal persecution of whistleblowers and journalists who transgress it. Imperial manipulation takes the form of propaganda, censorship, Silicon Valley algorithm manipulation, and mass media blackouts.
Empire managers work to keep as much information as possible about the empire from being made public ...

Clearing the Fog of 'Unprovoked' War
Edward Lozansky
|
|
Editor's note: Edward Lozansky's analysis may surprise many Americans and Europeans who are used to a diet of Western media portraying Russia as the "bad guy" when there is far more to the story of Ukraine. Dr. Lozansky, a former Russian nuclear physicist who became an American citizen, has consistently advocated for US-Russian friendship at the highest political levels. He explains how peaceful relations with Russia were undermined and sabotaged by U.S. leaders, not by the Russians. -- R. Kotila, Ph.D. DWF NEWS
EXCERPTS
For the record: I was born in Ukraine, studied in Russia, and worked in America as a laser fusion researcher and Professor of Mathematics and Physics. I have relatives and friends in all three countries, and for the last 35 years, I have been trying to do my best to make them friends, partners, or even allies. Instead, all three are now at war, even if some call the U.S. war only a war “by proxy.”
Some of us had direct talks in the White House with President George Bush, Sr., his Vice President, Dan Quayle, and in the Kremlin with Gorbachev and Yeltsin, who became Russian President after Gorby resigned on December 25, 1991. Even the U.S. mainstream media, including the New York Times and the Washington Post, wrote laudatory articles about our activities at the time.
As it turned out – whoops, not so fast. While some Americans, whom I shall call the “good guys,” were ready to turn former foes into friends, partners, and allies, the “bad guys” from other powerful groups had different ideas ...
Still, with George H.W. Bush in the White House the “good guys” had some leverage, but after Bill Clinton won the 1992 elections the Washington foreign policy establishment, sometimes called the “deep state,” was not interested in our work. The euphoria about winning the Cold War, and the dawning of what they saw as an era of a unipolar world under total American leadership, some called it hegemony, made them believe that Russia and her interests were no longer relevant. In their calculations, from now on, Moscow would have no choice but to obey orders from Washington...
Despite the constant use of the word “unprovoked” the current war was indeed provoked by the U.S. and NATO. It denigrates not only the principles of a democratic country but contradicts the basic spirit and soul of America itself.

Comment: Any type of tribunal against Putin et al., via either the International Criminal Court (ICC) or with a non-ICC specialized tribunal, will bring up the illegal overthrow of the democratically elected Ukrainian government by US covert operations in the violent Maidan "regime change" attack of Feb. 22, 2014, already publicly admitted by the US State Dept's Victoria Nuland.
Leading violator of international law
Partly why the US government is nervous about any type of tribunal, is that US leadership is the leading violator of international law and UN conventions: Invading nations, overthrowing governments, and economic warfare (sanctions, blockades). Bush, Bush Jr, Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden along with the Pentagon generals and CIA plotters would all be vulnerable to an objective and honest international Tribunal -- either by the ICC or outside of the ICC. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Cuba, Venezuela are just a few examples -- victims of (illegal) US aggression.
That's why the US threatened the ICC if it prosecuted American leaders responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity, etc. Russia joined with the US to threaten the ICC.
Currently, there is a movement underway to review the UN Charter as to why superpowers like the US and Russia are above international law and enforcement. Both are members of the disgraced UN Security Council P-5 with veto powers over the rest of the world.
The UN General Assembly is being asked to step in to expose what is wrong with the Charter that crimes by Bully nations go unpunished. The Earth Constitution is being advanced as a replacement for the obsolete and undemocratic Charter which has hampered the UN from doing its primary job -- ending war. ~ R. Kotila, PhD

You Ignore 'Apartheid' - Angry Scholars' Letter to US Jews Is Signed by 750 Including Benny Morris
So long as Jews and Palestinians don't have equal rights, Israel risks "dictatorship," says 750 academics in letter urging U.S. Jews to denounce "apartheid."

EXCERPTS
There is big news in the American discourse of apartheid. A letter to the American Jewish community, accusing it of supporting progressive causes while turning a blind eye to Israeli “apartheid” and ethnic cleansing, has gotten hundreds of signatures from leading figures, including mainstream voices in the Zionist world — Benny Morris, David Myers, Dov Waxman, Shaul Magid, and Daniel Levy.
The letter calls on American Jewish leaders to recognize “apartheid” and demand that U.S. leaders “restrict American military aid from being used in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and end Israeli impunity in the UN and other international organizations."
