A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR KLING
Story Trail in Lakeview Park honors U.S. Presidents
Last week we installed a new story trail feature at Lakeview Park ahead of the President's Day holiday. We hope you enjoy quotes and fun facts from various Presidents of our United States of America. Thank you to the Nampa Public Library, Parks and Recreation Department and Mayor's office staff who collaborated to install the 16 different signs. We hope you enjoy walking in the park and learning something new!

ONLY A FEW MORE DAYS TO SUBMIT MATERIALS FOR 2020 TIME CAPSULE!
WE WOULD LOVE LETTERS FROM KIDS FOR THE TIME CAPSULE!

In order to capture memories from 2020, we have decided to create a time capsule. We would like to include memories from our community, residents of all ages, as well members of our business and faith community. We're hoping to collect a great assortment of letters (ane a few small memorable items) by 5 p.m. February 16, 2021. We hope to bury the time capsule in late February. WATCH A SHORT VIDEO FROM MAYOR KLING. For questions or to make suggestions, please email mayor@cityofnampa.us or call (208) 468-5401.

NAMPA'S HOUSING SURVEY
LAST CHANCE TO TAKE THE HOUSING SURVEY
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement program was established in 1974 and helps cities in the Treasure Valley develop viable communities by creating suitable living environments, expanding economic opportunities, and providing decent housing for low to moderate income individuals. In an attempt to better understand the current or potential barriers to safe affordable housing, we are asking Nampa residents to take a few moments and complete this anonymous survey.
CITY OF NAMPA WASTEWATER STAFF RECEIVES CITIZEN COMPLIMENT
Recently, one of our Wastewater Department staff members, Ken Johnson, received some nice accolades from a community member:
"I'd like to give a shout out to a [waste]water maintenance guy! All I know is his first name is Ken, long white hair, he goes beyond what is expected of him, so I wanted to let you all know how awesome he's been the last 9 years. See 9 years ago as he was flushing the system on 4th St South near the alley adjacent to 5th Ave South, my bathroom toilet overflowed and water everywhere and dripping downstairs, I went to the alley and was not nice and angry in my slippers and asked what they were doing and Ken told me, so I told him I'm having issues with my bathroom toilet overflowing , he suggested aI call a plumber to check my vent on the roof. Well, we did but Ken came back after done and asked if I wanted him to inform me when he was gonna flush the line again, just in case, I said yes that would be great. So every 6 months, still to this day ( no more issues, but as a precaution and a good laugh ) he comes and lets me know hes flushing's the line. I think that's pretty cool. I thank him all the time, but I want you to know also. Thank you, Julie Bonsall."

From Ken's supervisor: "Ken is a team member with the Wastewater Collections department. I know how committed to the City of Nampa citizens the collections team is, and it is refreshing to hear the appreciation for one of our team members. Great Job Ken!" - Izzy Pina

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
On February 10, over 50 volunteers came together to help distribute nearly 3,000 food boxes at the Ford Idaho Center to the community thanks to the Idaho Food Bank! The City of Nampa played a large role in helping coordinate the event and we wanted to thank all of the volunteers who shared their time to help! We would also like to thank the Ford Idaho Center for hosting the event and providing staffing and services.

The Idaho Food Bank plans to have additional food distributions at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on February 24, March 10 and March 31 from 11am - 4pm, or until food runs out. If you need food, please come!
