Supporting Burlington Businesses Through U.S. Tariffs

With U.S. tariffs now in effect, Burlington Economic Development and Tourism is committed to helping businesses navigate these challenges. To provide support, we’ve launched a Trade & U.S. Tariffs Resource Hub featuring policy insights, legal guidance, risk management strategies, and support programs.

The City of Burlington’s “Buy Canadian” resolution encourages businesses and residents to prioritize Canadian-made products, strengthening the local economy. More details are available through the resource hub.

Additionally, Mayor Marianne Meed Ward’s Tariff Task Force—with active participation from Burlington Economic Development and Tourism—is advocating for local businesses, identifying key areas for support and policy action.

Businesses are encouraged to explore the resource hub, engage in economic discussions, and take proactive steps to adapt. Together, we'll ensure Burlington remains a resilient and thriving business hub.

📢 On March 7th, 2025, in response to the U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, the Government of Canada announced a comprehensive support package totalling over C$6.5 billion to assist affected businesses and workers.
