What a fantastic day of competition in challenging conditions on the first day of the 2023 Freestyle Junior National Championships, presented by Steamboat Mountain School and ID One! Congratulations to all the athletes! We are ready for another day on the hill Thursday with U17 qualifications and all finals. Christie Peak Express opens at 7:30am for athletes. Awards for Thursday’s event will be presented on Friday at the Awards Presentation on the stage in Gondola Square at 4:30pm. Thank you to our incredible events crew and volunteers for making this event possible and to Gondola Pub & Grill for providing breakfast to keep them going.

COMPETITION DAY INFORMATION

SPECTATING: Check the event webpage for more information on the venue.

Skiing to the Venue/Voodoo: Viewing is available from the side of the course, with the easiest viewing from the finish of the course. Ski access to the finish is via the See Me trail off the top of Christie Peak Express.
Hiking to the Venue: Non-skiing spectators may hike to the finish of the course - about 20-30 minutes from the base area.

LIVE STREAM: Wednesday’s weather made the live stream challenging, but we hope to have the sound fixed and an amazing broadcast for the next three days. The crew will work hard to get the courses ready in the morning, and if all goes well, we will stick to the schedule. Because of the weather we experienced on Wednesday and the potential for more on Thursday, check WhatsApp for any updates to the schedule. The jury will use WhatsApp to communicate any changes.

PARENT and COACH SOCIAL AT SLOPESIDE

ATHLETES: This event is for parents and coaches ONLY. While the parents and coaches are at Slopeside there are numerous restaurants open in the base area for a bite to eat. Grab a taco at Los Locos, fries at Paramount, a burger at Gondola Pub & Grill, or a slice of pizza at Gnarly Charly’s.

Steamboat Mountain School invites all parents and coaches to the Après Ski Social at Slopeside from 4-5:30pm.

There is limited parking available underneath Torian Plum. If you parked your car at the Meadows Lot, the shuttle runs until 6:30pm. Check-in with Steamboat Mountain School staff at Slopeside for drink tickets.
