Dear Chelsey,

Wishing everyone a joyful late summer in the Chilkat Valley!

UA Land Team attending Southeast Conference and Confluence

I will be joining Southeast Conference in Sitka, September 19–21, along with new Senior Property Manager Ki Jung Lee and Fiscal Manager Rachell Peterson. This year the Confluence conference will be in Fairbanks the week after, and given how fruitful it was last year in Haines, I hope folks from the Chilkat Valley will be attending too. Please let us know if you will be at either conference so we can make sure to spend time with you.

Update on the Ripinksi Trail Easement

The UA Land team is excited to see the progress on the Tuk-ga Hut! In case you missed it, Haines Huts and Trails contacted the UA Land team about a potential easement through University land in the Chilkat Valley. After researching the deed for the parcel that is bisected by the Seven Mile Saddle portion of Ripinski Trail, specifically HA.HH.0004, we have determined that there is no need for an easement. We continue to support the efforts of Haines Huts to increase recreation in the region.

Maps of University land holdings

Just a reminder that an interactive map of all current university land holdings is available on the homepage of the UA Land website, or you can click here to view and download a map of the Chilkat Valley.

Community eNewsletter

We added some new folks to our email list during the recent Recreational Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) Zoom calls, but if you know of others, please send them my way, or they are welcome to sign up directly on our website.

We are hoping to be back in the community this fall, but in the meantime, we are also available by phone or Zoom. Please just reply to this email or contact me directly at UALandHaines@gmail.com. As the UA Land team is in the process of putting together development plans in the Haines/Chilkat Valley area, we take all of your feedback into consideration.

As always, please reach out to me anytime at UALandHaines@gmail.com.

Thank you to eveyone–
